In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
People will prefer e-book over printed newspapers or books. They will be able to do this without spending money. I disagree with it to a large extent, although I acknowledge it has also some merits.
Firstly, online platform gives one a large range of access to knowledge. Anyone can lean about anything by a single type. Very few are buying newspapers nowadays since they can find it online easily without spending a single penny.
Secondly, even to people are still buying academic books, story books, science fictions etc. But the number is decreasing day by day. They prefer the idea to read more ,and less spend. People are now less attacted to libraries.
However, reading e-book is harmful for eyesight. Nowadays, every people has a long screen time as they addited to telephones ,and laptops. Reading online requires a long time focus on the screen. This sometimes causes headache ,and dizziness.Reading printed books have no such types of bad effect on human body.
Then, many libraries are becoming bankcrupt. The book sellers are going through downfall in business. Even book readers also don't meet will real value of reading books.
As a result, eventough the idea has so many merits, I disagree with the statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially and falls significantly short of the word count requirement, containing only 205 words against the 250-word minimum. While you present a clear position that you disagree with the statement, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, your points about online platforms providing access to knowledge and libraries becoming bankrupt are stated simply without sufficient extension or supporting examples. To move to a higher band, you need to fully develop your ideas with detailed explanations and ensure you meet the required minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation evident in your response, with paragraph breaks used to separate different points, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. You attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However', but referencing and linking between sentences can be repetitive and sometimes awkward, as seen in 'Then, many libraries are becoming bankcrupt.' Paragraphing is attempted, but some paragraphs are very short and lack internal cohesion. To improve under this criterion, you should ensure that your ideas flow logically from one to the next using a wider and more accurate range of cohesive links, and structure your paragraphs with clear topic sentences followed by supporting details.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your lexical range is limited but minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'downfall' and 'bankcrupt', but these contain noticeable spelling errors and awkward word choices that may cause some difficulty for the reader. There are also issues with word form and collocation, such as 'lean about anything by a single type' instead of 'tap', and 'less attacted to libraries'. To achieve a higher band, you must expand your vocabulary range, use less common lexical items more precisely with correct spelling, and pay closer attention to natural collocations and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with occasional attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('every people has', 'reading printed books have'), missing or incorrect articles, and punctuation mistakes around conjunctions. For example, writing 'headache ,and dizziness' shows poor control of punctuation. These errors occur frequently and can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammar score, you need to practise using a wider variety of complex sentence structures accurately and check your work for basic agreement and punctuation errors.
