In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the future everyone will be able to read any kind of books, novels, and newspaper digitally on their smartphones, tablets, or on their computer devices with internet, and the traditional version of printed books or newspapers will be obselete. I completely agree with the statement, because change is only thing which remains constant, and new ganeration will use their gadgets to read instead of reading on papers, this will be more convenient for them and time saving.
Digital books are not only free of cost, they provides reader with a great understanding about the topic because they are easy for user to highlight important lines and readers can search keywords and read more efficiently, digital books will also reduce traveling cost to visit market for purchase tangible books or printed newspapers.
Most people read newspapers once, and then they throw it into waste bin after they got all of the updates from it, like what are governments plan to do, or what the current situation of an economy is, this will increase carbon footprints, and every year thousands of trees are cut to make papers for newspapers and book for the readers.
The most crucial roles of digital libraries and books are they reduce carbon foot prints and helps in green environmental practices. It is clear that digital books are not only user friendly, they are also enviromental friendly. Personally, i prefer to read books and blogs online by using my smartphone instead of physical books, or newspapers. It is more convenient, time saving, and low cost to read digital books or newspapers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your response addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating a position agreeing with the prompt that printed materials will be replaced by free online content. You present relevant ideas regarding convenience, cost, and environmental benefits, which allows the response to fully meet the requirements of the lower band. However, to reach a higher level, these ideas need more thorough extension and support rather than relying on general assertions. For instance, your point about environmental impact could be expanded by discussing the lifecycle of digital devices versus paper production. Some ideas, such as the mention of saving traveling costs, are briefly touched upon but remain slightly under-developed, which keeps the task achievement score at this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
There is a coherent overall arrangement to your essay, with clear paragraphing that separates distinct arguments about cost, efficiency, and environmental concerns. You use some cohesive devices and referencing to connect your thoughts, such as 'digital books are not only free of cost, they provides reader...' and 'The most crucial roles'. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, and referencing is not always completely clear throughout the text. To improve to a higher band, you would need to ensure a smoother, more natural logical progression between sentences and paragraphs, using a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices without over-relying on basic connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to technology and the environment, such as 'carbon footprints', 'tangible books', and 'convenient'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect this band level, including 'obselete' instead of obsolete, 'ganeration' instead of generation, and phraseological slips like 'visit market for purchase tangible books' instead of purchasing physical books. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they prevent you from achieving a higher band. Enhancing your precision in word choice and ensuring accurate spelling of less common vocabulary will help lift your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating that you can construct multi-clause sentences such as 'In the future everyone will be able to read... and the traditional version... will be obsolete.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('they provides reader') and minor punctuation slips, but these errors rarely impede communication and remain manageable for the reader. To achieve a higher band, you should aim for a greater variety of error-free complex structures and tighter control over agreement, articles, and prepositions within your grammatical patterns.
