Student answer (Band 5.0)

In comming time maximum countries follow paper less economy. We absorb major decline in market of printed newspaper and books.Because every stuff were easily accessed through internet without any payment.Yes i agree with this statement.

As the world get modifing each day,the way life style also get major modification.Firstly I fully agree with narrative of paper less economy.Because with passage of time every thing become more easy.In this way we easily save our resources for future specially trees. Trees provide us oxygen without oxygen livingthings survival become impossible. As we know that the tree is major source for production of papers which later used for books, novels newspapers etc.Instead of destroying trees for papers we can easily get access to every stuff for reading on internet without any charges.

On the other hand, as the world change one new gadget called smart phone enters our life and change everyhing. It is very common nowadays that lot of people suffered from over use of mobile phone .Online reading effects person mentally.Reduce communication skills and it was the just waste of time and health.Secondly unwanted ads during online reading also affect reading experience and concentration toward topic. For instance,a person reading newspaper on mobile phone and suddenly call notification disturb him.

In conclusion, online reading have great importance in future. Every person want some positive changes in their life.So i think that reading through internet is much better than physically reading of books. Because we get every content in one click and we can easily save it for future. This way is effortless and we can save a lot of time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and presents a clear position regarding the shift towards online reading, but the development of ideas is limited and sometimes repetitive. The writer touches upon relevant points, such as environmental preservation by saving trees and the convenience of accessing content on the internet, which supports the stance. However, the arguments lack sufficient extension and depth, often remaining at a general level without fully exploring the implications of free online reading on traditional publishing. For instance, the counterargument in the second body paragraph introduces relevant drawbacks like distractions and mental health effects, but these ideas are under-developed and abruptly concluded. The response satisfies the basic requirements of the task, but the lack of extended, fully elaborated supporting ideas keeps the development at a partial level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some overall organisation, with a visible introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, yet there is a lack of clear progression throughout the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas within paragraphs feels disjointed, as seen in the second body paragraph where smartphone distractions are mixed somewhat abruptly. Cohesive devices are used, but they tend to be mechanical and repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on transitional phrases like 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'Secondly'. Furthermore, referencing and logical links between sentences can be unclear, causing the argument to jump between points rather than flow smoothly. The overall arrangement provides a basic structure, but managing cohesion effectively remains an area needing significant improvement to guide the reader seamlessly through the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited in range, though it remains minimally adequate for communicating the basic arguments. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'paper less economy' and 'modification', but these attempts are often marred by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, form, and collocation. There are numerous word-choice and spelling issues throughout the text, including 'comming' instead of coming, 'every stuff' instead of all material, and 'modifing' instead of modifying. These errors occur frequently and occasionally cause some difficulty or hesitation for the reader in grasping the precise meaning intended. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to expand their control of lexical chunks, improve spelling accuracy, and employ a more precise vocabulary suited to academic writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammatical structures used are of a limited range, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled attempts at complex forms. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including problems with subject-verb agreement, such as 'every stuff were easily accessed', and tense consistency issues like 'as the world get modifing'. Articles and prepositions are frequently missing or misused, as seen in 'on mobile phone' and 'toward topic'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While the writer attempts some varied structures, errors are pervasive across basic and complex sentences alike, impacting overall readability and reflecting persistent difficulties with grammatical accuracy.
