IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the coming years people will be able to read everything online for free and will not buy printed newspapers or books. I totally agree with this statement, because as technology increases the ease of life and the facilities it provides also increase. People gradually look for flexibilty and accessibilty.
Earlier, reading a book or newspaper was limited to an extend which created a difficult for people. Looking down the lane, people can access wide range of sources for free of cost which help them to read according to their preference. A person can read any book anytime or can prefer reading newspaper online. For example, earlier people had to limit themselves to a certain point to buy a newspaper as it was charegable but today they have the access for multiple language newspapers.
One of the reason that online books or newspapers are better is that the production of paper will reduce which will eventually reduce the cutting of trees. This will help our environment and will create a positive impact on our ecosystem. Printed newspapers are just read once or twice but after it is of no meaningful use which directs that reading online is not just accessible but also plays important role for the environment.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that reading through online is much better than printed newspapers and books. Online reading gives a person flexibility and accessibilty to read everything without concerning about anything. More over it doesn't charge which does in printed books and newspapers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your response addresses the main prompt by taking a clear, albeit somewhat absolute, position that everyone will read online for free in the future. However, the ideas are presented in a limited and somewhat repetitive manner without deep development. For instance, while you mention environmental benefits regarding the reduction of paper production, this point is underdeveloped and lacks specific explanation or elaboration. Similarly, your argument about accessibility is generalised. To move to a higher level, you need to extend your supporting points with more thorough explanations and specific examples rather than relying on broad statements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
Your essay demonstrates some overall organisation with clear paragraph breaks, dividing the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, there is a lack of smooth overall progression between your ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'One of the reason' and 'In conclusion', but referencing and linking are sometimes repetitive or mechanical. For example, the transition between discussing accessibility and environmental impact feels abrupt. To achieve a higher score, you should ensure that each paragraph flows naturally into the next using a wider range of sophisticated cohesive ties, and make sure internal referencing within sentences is completely clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is minimally adequate to communicate your basic arguments, using everyday words such as 'technology', 'flexibility', and 'environment'. However, the range is limited and contains noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation. Examples include 'flexibilty' and 'accessibilty' (spelling errors), 'created a difficult for people' (incorrect word form), 'free of cost' (less natural collocation than 'free of charge'), and 'charegable' (spelling and word form issues). To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider vocabulary range, employ less common lexical items accurately, and eliminate spelling and word formation mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You display a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on straightforward patterns with frequent errors when attempting complex constructions. Noticeable grammatical issues include subject-verb agreement problems, such as 'One of the reason that online books or newspapers are better is...', article errors ('reading through online'), and prepositional slips ('without concerning about anything'). Furthermore, punctuation and sentence boundary issues occasionally surface. Because these frequent errors can cause some difficulty and strain for the reader, your grammatical accuracy remains at this level. To improve, you should practice forming complex sentences with greater precision and monitor basic agreements.
