IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given statement discribe the people will not buy newspapers or books in the future because they will read everything on social media with out payment. I am partialy disagree with this statement.
If people read news and do other activities on social media like tiktok youtube and any other platefoam and they think they read news with out any payment. So, I say its wrong because with out any package they did not see any videos on any platefoam. I just say it is bigest misunderstanding of people who they think.
It's also not true because if people always watching videos on social media they vaste much one own time because when we use social media we do not know how much our time is vaste. And the other side most use of social media the biggest disadvantege is our eyesight is poor. So, I say reding news paper or books is much better then getting news on social media. If we send news on social media is much fast but many news on social media is fack but they are viral very fast and when we know its orignel activity so we informed it is fake.
So, I think newspaper is best for sending news because when people read it. they informed what is wrong and what is right. So, I say it is wrong read news on social media if people get news on social media. They would newer send other without investigation. So reading news on social media is not good.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt partially by expressing a partial disagreement with the statement regarding the future of printed materials versus free online content. However, the position is not always clear, and the ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer attempts to discuss social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube and touches upon issues such as data packages and fake news, but these arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting detail or extension. The main body paragraphs jump between disparate points about time-wasting, eyesight, and the speed of misinformation without fully developing any single central argument. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to present a well-developed position with fully elaborated supporting ideas and clear explanations for each main point.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some basic organization, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding remark, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas from start to finish. Paragraphing is attempted, yet the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, as thoughts are grouped together somewhat randomly rather than flowing logically from one to the next. Cohesive devices are used in a repetitive and mechanical manner, heavily relying on basic connectors like 'So' and 'And the other side' to link sentences. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the exact line of reasoning. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure a logical progression throughout the text, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices without overusing them, and structure paragraphs around clear central themes.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The lexical resource is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, featuring frequent word-choice errors, incorrect word forms, and spelling mistakes that cause some difficulty for the reader. For example, words like 'discribe' instead of describe, 'partialy' instead of partially, 'platefoam' instead of platform, 'waste' misspelled as 'vaste', 'reding' instead of reading, 'fack' instead of fake, and 'orignel' instead of original severely impede precision. The writer also struggles with collocations and lacks the range needed to discuss the topic flexibly. To improve, the student should expand their working vocabulary, learn correct word forms and spellings, and practice using appropriate terminology related to media and technology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is quite limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences alongside attempts at complex structures that are frequently faulty. The text contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, missing articles, incorrect verb forms, and poor punctuation, which often cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'the people will not buy', 'with out any package they did not see', and 'it is wrong read news on social media'. Punctuation is also problematic, with misplaced full stops breaking sentences awkwardly (e.g., 'read it. they informed'). To reach the next band, the writer needs to increase the variety of complex structures used and significantly reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors by ensuring better control over sentence boundaries and verb tenses.
