IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
It has been observed that in the future not a single person will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to find everything they want on internet without any charges. If questioned, i agree with this viewppint to a large extent to find everything on internet. My inclination is justified in the upcoming paragraphs with valid reasons and appropriate examples.
the fundamental reason for my inclination is that, prevented the trees from cutting down and make environment more vibrant and cool. if we don't cut trees and save him to cutting down we have many advantages. For example, our environment become pure atmosphere and decrease pullution. To add to this, we have to go to market to purchase the printed newspaper and it's a waste of time. therefore, if we use internet then its save our time and also it is more convient and reliable.
Furthermore, the other reason to prove my point is that online sources are more convenient and easily accessible. Because of that, people can read newspapers and books whenever and wherever they want by using smartphones, tablets or computers. In addition, the availability of a wide range of digital content at little or no cost can encourage individuals to choose online platforms rather than purchasing printed materials.
On the contrary, some people counter the mentioned viewpoint. The foremost argument they do is that printed newspapers and books provide a more comfortable reading experience and do not require electronic devices. To add to this, some individuals may prefer the traditional feeling of reading physical books and newspapers, particularly older people who are less familiar with digital technology.
To conclude the discussion, it can be said that despite the fact that printed materials offer a comfortable and traditional reading experience, my reasons that digital content is more convenient, accessible and environmentally friendly are logically acceptable. Therefore, I agree that the demand for printed newspapers and books is likely to decline considerably in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, agreeing with the given statement to a large extent. Note that 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted in the overall word count. Relevant main ideas are presented, such as environmental benefits and convenience, but some are under-developed or lack full extension. For instance, the second paragraph attempts to discuss saving trees and reducing pollution, but the explanation remains slightly fragmented and limited in elaboration. Conversely, the counter-argument and conclusion are appropriately integrated to support the overall stance. To reach a higher band, the student needs to fully develop every supporting point with richer, more thoroughly explained arguments rather than moving quickly between ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
There is a coherent overall arrangement to the response, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides of the argument, and a logical conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate distinct themes. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transition phrases like 'To add to this' and 'On the contrary' are used, but referencing and logical flow between sentences occasionally feel abrupt, such as the transition from environmental points to time-saving aspects within the second paragraph. To improve further, the writer should ensure that cohesive devices connect ideas more smoothly and that referencing pronouns clearly link back to their intended antecedents without causing any reader hesitation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common vocabulary such as 'environmental friendly', 'digital content', and 'traditional feeling'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation. Examples include 'on internet' instead of 'on the internet', 'viewppint', 'prevented the trees from cutting down', 'pullution', and 'convient'. These lexical errors and occasional spelling slips indicate a lack of precision, though they do not seriously impede communication. To move higher, the student must expand their control of collocations, word forms, and spelling accuracy when using less common lexical items.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'if we use internet then its save our time'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Examples of grammatical slips include capitalization issues like 'i agree', subject-verb agreement issues such as 'environment become', and article omissions like 'on internet'. Complex structures are attempted, but they often contain minor inaccuracies. To achieve a higher score, the student needs to produce a greater frequency of error-free sentences while maintaining complex grammatical structures with precise control over articles, prepositions, and verb tenses.
