Student answer (Band 5.5)
With great developments in technology and people living a fast pase life, no one have time to sit in the mornings with a cup of coffee in one hnad and newspaper in other these days. Everyone try to do their important tasks or e readings on their gadgets.People have multiple online platforms to read news and get updates from sports to war on their phone, computers etcetra. I completely agree with the statement, that in future humankind will be more keen in reading about everything on the online platforms rather than spending money on printed newspapers and books.
To begin with, technologogy plays a vital role in our life these days. Current generation does not like those old fashion way of getting updates around the world through newspapers or reading thousands of book just to get a piece of information, rather they love to use their smartphones, multiple websites, google, Artificial intelligence, making their life easy with instant results of their search. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you state, “I completely agree,” and give relevant reasons involving convenience, rapid access to information, and environmental concerns. You also acknowledge a counterpoint by noting that some people value collecting ancient books, which shows awareness of another perspective. However, the response only partly develops the task’s central claim that everything will be available online without payment. It focuses mainly on the shift to digital reading and saving trees, with little discussion of whether online material will actually remain free or why printed books may continue to be bought. The final paragraph also ends abruptly at “So its,” leaving your conclusion incomplete. Develop both parts of the prediction and finish with a clear summary of your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “To begin with,” and a paragraph that introduces a contrasting view. This helps the reader identify your main position and supporting points. However, progression is uneven: the second paragraph combines technology, busy lifestyles, access to information, and environmental effects without clearly separating or linking these ideas. Connectors such as “In contrast” do not introduce a fully developed contrast, and “Though” begins a concession that is not completed with a clear response. The final sentence is unfinished, so the essay lacks a complete ending. Use one main idea per paragraph, make each linking phrase accurately reflect the relationship between ideas, and add a concluding paragraph that brings the argument together.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “online platforms,” “instant results,” “passionate collectors,” and “saving the environment.” These phrases help communicate your ideas about digital reading and printed materials. However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “people,” “read,” and “information,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “fast pase life,” “old fashion way,” and “more focus to save.” Spelling errors such as “technologogy,” “importanat,” and “neccessary” are noticeable and reduce the overall control of vocabulary. Aim for more precise expressions for digital access, publication costs, and reading habits, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use subordinate clauses, for example, “Though reading newspapers and books give an ultimate pleasure,” and the sentence beginning “Current generation does not like…”. This shows an effort to move beyond simple sentence patterns. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to follow. Examples include “no one have time,” “Everyone try,” and “people are more focus,” where subject–verb agreement or verb forms are incorrect. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, such as “in other” and the fragment “Which is a great step…”. Practise accurate agreement and complete sentence construction, then check punctuation and articles during editing.
