Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear position—“I totally agree”—and give a relevant central reason: online sources make news and reading material easier to access. However, the response only partially develops the task. The second body paragraph shifts to the benefits of printed books and newspapers, but does not explain how these benefits affect your agreement with the prediction that nobody will buy them. The conclusion then says people “should avoid” printed material, which is stronger and different from explaining whether they will stop buying it. Support is also general: the example about online news sites is not specific or explained in depth. To strengthen the response, address the future prediction directly and develop each reason with a clear explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, so there is a basic attempt to organise the discussion. The first body paragraph follows the stated position by discussing online access. However, the next paragraph begins “As ‘beauty lies in the eyes of beholder’” and moves to the value of print without showing how this connects to your overall agreement. The conclusion also repeats the online-access point and introduces “people should avoid” print, rather than bringing the argument together. Linking phrases such as “Therefore” and “as a result” are used repeatedly, sometimes where the relationship between ideas is unclear. Use topic sentences that signal each paragraph’s role and connect the contrast between online and printed reading explicitly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “modernisation,” “predominant reason,” “enhance reading skills” and “significant role.” These choices show an effort to move beyond very basic wording. However, the range is limited by repetition of “newspaper or books,” “significant” and “grab,” and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “grab knowledge,” “read book articles” and “information about social.” Spelling errors such as “importent” and “aformentioned” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations and vary repeated terms—for example, use “access information,” “printed publications” and “online news platforms.” This would make your meaning clearer and more appropriate to an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “The predominant reason why…” and a contrast introduced by “Whereas.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “technology not much developed,” “people will able,” and “newspaper or books plays,” which show problems with verb forms and subject–verb agreement. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent: “which is easier…” and “as a result…” are separated as fragments, while several sentences begin with lowercase letters. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns will help your ideas come through reliably.
