Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you agree that online access will reduce the use of printed newspapers, and you give relevant reasons, including the convenience of digital news and the cost of buying papers. Examples such as news organisations’ websites and older people purchasing newspapers help illustrate your points. However, the response addresses the prompt only partially because it focuses mainly on newspapers, while the statement also asks about books. The claim that people will read everything online without paying is not examined in enough detail, and some examples—such as watching films and television—do not directly support the argument about reading. Develop both sides of the statement, including whether free online access is realistic and why some readers may still choose print.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: the introduction states your view, the two body paragraphs present reasons and examples, and the conclusion restates the main idea. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Although,” and “Consequently” help signal relationships between points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven: the first body paragraph moves from newspapers to corporate departments, search engines, video entertainment, and news websites without consistently connecting each example to the central claim. Some transitions also feel mechanical, and the contrast introduced by “Although” is not fully developed. Group related evidence more tightly and use clearer references to show how each example supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “cutting-edge technology,” “digital innovation,” “convenient,” and “cost-effective.” These choices show an effort to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “entertaimnet,” “eradicts,” “magzines,” and “esthatic.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “technology is occupying all the sectors of news” and “digital updated news.” Choose more precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Repeating broad terms such as “information,” “news,” and “convenient” also limits flexibility; more specific wording would help distinguish reading, accessing updates, and following current affairs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “I agree with the statement, because…” and a concessive opening with “Although.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems are evident. For example, “Citizen are preffering” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “it charge cost to them” has an unclear verb construction. The sentence beginning “For example, People are spending…” also has inconsistent capitalisation and awkward sentence joining. There are some issues with articles, plurals, and tense consistency across the discussion of past and present habits. Review agreement and verb forms, and punctuate sentence boundaries consistently to make your meaning easier to follow.
