Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both possible benefits and drawbacks, including environmental effects and the value of printed reading, so the response is relevant to the topic. However, the task asks how far you agree or disagree with the prediction that people will stop buying printed material because online content will be free. Your position is not clearly stated: the introduction promises to discuss positive and negative impacts, while the conclusion says you support “the advancement” without specifying your degree of agreement. Several ideas are also under-developed or unclear, such as the claim that fewer printed publications would reduce the supply of trees. To strengthen the response, state your position directly and explain how each example supports it, including whether free online access is realistic.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and it attempts to guide the reader with phrases such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion.” The environmental argument is grouped together, while the second body paragraph introduces disadvantages, giving the essay some organisation. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph contains a long, difficult-to-follow chain of claims, and the conclusion does not resolve the contrast between the two sides. Some linking phrases, including “Analyzing the statement and explaining further,” feel mechanical rather than helping the argument develop. Use one main point per paragraph, connect each example explicitly to your position, and make the conclusion restate that position clearly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “controversial,” “environment,” “resources,” and “political news.” However, the range is limited by repeated general wording and noticeable errors in word choice, collocation and spelling. Phrases such as “the demand supply of trees,” “the less use of resources are there,” and “the advancement it is making” are difficult to interpret precisely. There are also spelling errors such as “explaiing,” “enviroment,” “poitical,” and “contast.” These issues sometimes make the intended meaning unclear. Build accuracy by learning natural combinations such as “reduce paper consumption” and “access news online,” and proofread spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt complex sentences, for example by using “because,” “if,” and “as well as,” but these structures are often faulty, and many sentences are difficult to follow. In “The importance … which was always debatable has now become more controversial,” the relative clause and punctuation are not controlled clearly. The long sentence beginning “Analyzing the statement…” contains several clauses joined without clear grammatical boundaries, while “There is some drawbacks” has a subject–verb agreement error. Other problems include missing or misplaced articles and inconsistent sentence punctuation. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas with accurate subordinate clauses. Careful editing for agreement, articles and sentence boundaries would make your meaning much easier to follow.
