Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, the technological advancements has made significant amount of changes and revolutions in the field of press and media, where everyone has the access to news and information about everything on there smart devices. But, there are several significant risks of such advancements which should not be undermined, as the risk of misinformation has became more crucial and concerning issue for people. In my view, completely replacing the conventional methods of newspapers and books would not be a positive change.
The online accounts, websites, applications, communities, and several other methods, paly a very significant role in making this new change accountable to people, as it is free of cost, there is not need to create storage spaces as the soft copies are easily accessable for people and more convenient, it also reduces the dependency on one source, allowing consumer to compare between categories and choose the most convenient option.
However, there are several negative impacts which should not be undermined, as there is a great amount of risk of misinformation, fake news. Furthermore, cyber criminals exploit this method to earn profit from inocent people, by making them a target of a scam. Moreover, several negative psychological impacts are also highlighted by researchers and scientists, who reached a conclusion that, using smart devices can reduce our ability to focus, increases stress, increases the risk of addiction, ability to deeply understand a text and reducing out speed and efficiency.
Therefore, it can be concluded that, completely replacing the conventional methods of printed newspapers and books would not be a positive change, as it significantly increases the risk of misinformation, scams, and risk of becoming victim of cyber fraud. So, a combination of both method would be a better solution for future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you oppose completely replacing printed newspapers and books, and you conclude that both formats should remain available. You address the advantages of online reading—free access, convenience and choice—and contrast these with misinformation, scams and possible effects on concentration. This covers the task and gives relevant support. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits of print itself are not explained, and the claim that online access is free is accepted without considering that not all material is free. The psychological-effects point is also broad and would be stronger with a specific explanation or example. To develop the response further, compare the formats directly and explain why printed sources remain valuable despite digital convenience.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, the next paragraphs present online advantages and disadvantages, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Furthermore,” and “Therefore” help signal the direction of the argument. This gives the essay a coherent progression. At times, though, cohesion feels mechanical because several sentences begin with additive transitions, and the second paragraph combines multiple benefits in one long sentence. The relationship between the risks and your preference for keeping print could also be made more explicit. Use clearer topic sentences, divide lists of benefits into separate sentences, and connect each example directly to the central comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “misinformation,” “conventional methods,” “cyber criminals,” “dependency,” and “psychological impacts.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some less common terms are attempted. However, several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision: “significant amount of changes,” “paly,” “accessable,” “inocent,” and “reducing out speed” are examples. Some phrases are also vague or unnatural, such as “making this new change accountable to people.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding formal-sounding words. Proofread spelling and choose precise expressions for the intended meaning, particularly when describing online access and the effects of device use.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as” and “which,” and the main argument remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction occur often enough to limit accuracy. For example, “the technological advancements has made” should have a plural verb, while “there is not need” needs an article or a different construction. In “using smart devices can reduce our ability to focus, increases stress,” the verbs do not follow a consistent grammatical pattern. The long sentence listing online benefits also joins several independent ideas without clear control. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and parallel structures, and break long sentences into shorter, accurately punctuated units.
