IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the contemporary era, due to advancement in technologies people can find any information by just few clicks. On that note, it is predicted that in the upcomig years people will stop buying newspapers and books because they will able to read everything they want online without paying. I agree with this notion without any qualms and the reasons for the same have been discussed further.
There are numerous reasons justifying my opinion. Firstly, nowadays due to advancement in technologies and internet, peple can find any infromation by just few clicks. They do not need any physical book to find out any information because nowadays most of the books are available online in the form of ebooks. As a result, people prefer ebooks rather than physical book. Secondly, worldwide news are continuously telecast on TV as well as on their online applications. Most of the newspapers have their own online applications. So people can download this applications in their phones or a laptops. As a result, they can read this news at any time and anywhere.
Furthermore, reading online is very easy and convineint. People can read any information from the anywhere and anytime. They do not need any quiet space because for reading physical books its require quiet spaces like libraray and similar type of rooms. Moreover, printed newspapers and books require a lot of space, while online books and news require only small amount of space in their phones. Thus, an increasing number of people prefer online reading rather than printed books or newspapers.
To conclude, even though sometimes online content provide false informations, I still believe that read online in quite beneficial due to reasons like informations available by just few clicks, easy and convineint and it do not require space.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: “I agree with this notion,” and the conclusion maintains that view. You give relevant reasons, including the availability of e-books and newspaper apps, convenience, and the space saved by digital reading. These points address the prompt, but some are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that people will be able to read everything online without paying is not examined: you do not discuss whether all books and news will actually be free, or acknowledge the limits of online access. The point about false information appears only briefly in the conclusion. Develop and support these less-developed aspects with explanation or examples to make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and repeated references to “just few clicks,” online availability, and convenience make the argument feel repetitive rather than progressively developed. Some references are also unclear, as in “download this applications” and “read this news,” where the reader must infer the intended nouns. Group related points more tightly, use pronouns and linking phrases with clear references, and make each paragraph advance a distinct part of the argument. This would create smoother connections between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main points, including “ebooks,” “online applications,” “physical books,” and “printed newspapers.” Phrases such as “without any qualms” and “in the contemporary era” show an attempt to use a broader range. However, the vocabulary is often repetitive or imprecise, and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce naturalness: “upcomig,” “peple,” “infromation,” and “convineint.” Some combinations are awkward, such as “news are continuously telecast” and “read this news.” Aim for accurate collocations and vary repeated words such as “information” and “online.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more natural phrases would make your meaning clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple sentences and some longer structures, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast with “while.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “they will able to read” needs an auxiliary, “most of the books are available” is followed by the singular “physical book,” and “it do not require space” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The sentence “for reading physical books its require quiet spaces” also has an unclear grammatical structure. Practise checking each sentence for a complete verb phrase, correct singular/plural agreement, and appropriate articles. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen your varied sentence forms.
