Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear disagreement at the start, and you do address online access and older readers. However, the response only minimally develops the task: the claim that older people cannot understand online newspapers is asserted rather than supported, and the discussion does not fully consider the prediction that all books and newspapers will be available online for free. The point that online reading saves money also appears without being reconciled with your disagreement. The conclusion repeats these points but does not clarify your overall reasoning. The response is also below the required 250 words, so there is limited space to explain and support your position. Develop two relevant reasons with examples and address both newspapers and books.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Your response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and words such as “Secondly,” “However” and “In conclusion” show an attempt to guide the reader. Nevertheless, ideas are not arranged coherently throughout. The first body paragraph moves from technology to postmen and then to who reads newspapers, without a clear link to the disagreement. In the next paragraph, the claim that nobody will buy newspapers conflicts with your opening position, and the contrast introduced by “However” is not fully explained. Repetition of the older-people point in the conclusion also limits progression. Give each paragraph one clear purpose, connect each example directly to your position, and use referencing that makes the relationship between ideas explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “printed form,” “social media,” “negative impact” and “save money,” so the reader can identify the general topic. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “newspaper” and “read” used frequently, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate. For example, “understand it online” seems to mean access or read it online, while “what’s the write” does not express the intended meaning clearly. Spelling errors such as “completly,” “eveything” and “miniutes” are noticeable. These limitations sometimes make the message difficult to follow. Build a more precise range for discussing digital access, affordability and print media, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including “I completely disagree with this statement because…” and a sentence beginning “If they want to read it…”. However, grammatical control is weak: errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Examples include “older people does’nt understand,” “everyone is able to understand it online and provide no money,” and “They can’t see it without his glasses.” Subject–verb agreement, verb forms, pronouns and sentence construction need attention. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, particularly where sentences run together. Practise accurate simple sentence patterns first, then combine ideas using because, although and while, checking that each clause has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
