IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In coming days nobody spend money to buy printed newspapers or books because everything is shifting online and people are able to read and watch everything online without paying a single rupee. I agree with this statement
On the first hand, few people think that reading printing news are more valuable than reading news online because news paper don't provide online news they provide different kinds of messages and few moral values in it and many people think reading printed newspaper don't effect eyes and easy to read for every age group of peoples.
On the othe hand, many people believe that reading printed newspapers are totally wastage of time because newspapers words are hard to read due to small words so peoples are not able to read news easily. Also newspaper printing is effecting environment because thausand of tress is cutted to make paper for newspaper and in making of ink using for printing.
Moreover, in my opinion i believe that printing news are not a good option in today's time because every important news is available on internet before printing on newspaper also online news is easy to read or having listing option with is good for blind people and online news are fast to foward to many people at ones without disturbing environment.
In conclusion, many people prefer to read newspapers but in today's time i believe that reading news online is more beneficial beacuse online news save time and easy to spread in public in less time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You state a clear overall view—“I agree”—and return to it in the conclusion, with relevant reasons including the speed and accessibility of online news and the environmental cost of printing. However, the response only partly develops the question’s broader claim about both newspapers and books: nearly all your examples concern newspapers, and the claim that online material is available “without paying” is not examined. The opposing view is included, but points such as printed papers being easier on the eyes are asserted rather than explained or supported. To strengthen the response, address books as well as newspapers, clarify the extent of your agreement, and develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, a paragraph giving your own view, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph presents the opposing view, while the next shifts to online advantages, and the later paragraph repeats some of those advantages without clearly building the argument. Some connections are also awkward or unclear, particularly “because news paper don't provide online news.” Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s purpose, group related reasons together, and use pronouns or transitions only when their references are clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “environment,” “printing,” “available,” and “beneficial,” and you attempt to express ideas about accessibility and speed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning less clear, such as “reading printing news,” “small words” for small print, and “fast to foward.” Repetition of “online,” “news,” and “people” also limits precision. Spelling errors such as “thausand,” “tress,” and “beacuse” are noticeable. Build a more varied set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling; for example, distinguish between printed publications, digital access, and the environmental impact of paper production.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast between printed and online news and a sentence explaining environmental effects. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns, agreement, verb forms, and articles. Examples include “nobody spend money,” “newspapers are totally wastage,” and “thausand of tress is cutted”; these make the reader work to understand your meaning. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as the opening paragraph ends with “I agree with this statement” without a full stop. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and plural forms, then build longer sentences from correctly formed clauses. Proofreading for complete sentences and punctuation will improve clarity.
