IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 4.5)
In the modern era, people do not have enough time to read news papers or books because they were intersted in to do everything on online plateform also listen or read news on mobile or other digital plateforms through that we do not need to pay money. I strongly agree with the statement because that are reality of today era and i think that are also demand of digital time.
Firstly, reading newspaper will be time taking process. In that era, time is the key to success that's why we should listen and read news on mobile phone or TV. E.g., Nowadays, we see that not many peoples read news from newspaper beacuse that are time taking process and also not the bright future of news if we stuck to newspaper or book because that are modern era of technology. In the addition, if anything have a solution to pay not too much money than why we need to move to expensive one. Because newspaper is expensive method to hear news but if we see news online we dont need to pay money do much.
Secondly, if we totally move to technolgy than books and newspaper stuck to cupboart. That also effect on over childern and ypung people they adopt that thing only mobile phones,
In conclusion, news we listen on mobile phone as well as on TV. Also reading newspaper have no future because all world are moving towars technology. So, we also need to move forward and listen and read news on mobile phone and TV.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that online access will replace printed newspapers and books. You give relevant reasons, including convenience, saving time and avoiding payment, and you attempt to organise them into two body paragraphs. However, the response addresses the task only partially. Most support concerns getting news online, while the prompt also asks about books and whether people will be able to read everything online without paying. The point that children may be affected by relying on phones is introduced but not explained, and the second body paragraph is incomplete. Develop both sides of the topic with specific explanations or examples, and clarify whether you mean printed books will disappear entirely or simply become less popular.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your main position and the first reason. However, progression is uneven: the second body paragraph contains only one unfinished idea, and the conclusion repeats the claim that news can be read or heard on phones and TV rather than drawing together the argument about both books and newspapers. Some linking is mechanical, particularly repeated use of “also” and “because,” while “In the addition” is not an accurate connector. Build each paragraph around one developed point, use clear references to connect ideas, and ensure the conclusion reflects the full argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a basic range of topic vocabulary, including “newspaper,” “mobile phone,” “technology,” and “digital,” so the general subject is understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and often imprecise, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “time taking process” is repeated, “expensive method to hear news” is an awkward description, and “stuck to cupboard” does not clearly express what will happen to printed books and newspapers. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as “intersted,” “plateform,” and “technolgy.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling; more precise terms such as “time-consuming,” “digital platforms,” and “printed publications” would help express your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic structures to state your opinion and give reasons. However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms can obscure meaning. For instance, “because that are reality” has incorrect agreement, while “if anything have a solution to pay” is difficult to interpret because the clause is not formed correctly. In “they adopt that thing only mobile phones,” the relationship between the ideas is also unclear. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “if,” and “although.” Check subject–verb agreement and make sure each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
