Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You give a relevant, partly disagreeing position and begin to address both sides: online reading is convenient and can save money, while printed materials remain useful. However, the response stops before explaining why printed newspapers or books will continue to be bought, and the online benefits are only briefly stated, with no examples or supporting detail. The task asks you to discuss whether nobody will buy printed publications because online material will be free; this central prediction is therefore only minimally addressed. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, so there is not enough development to cover the question adequately. Extend each main idea with reasons and specific examples, and make your position clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic overall structure: an introduction states your position, followed by a paragraph beginning “On the one hand” that presents advantages of online reading. “Firstly” and “Secondly” help signal the sequence of points. However, the response ends after the second point, so there is no contrasting paragraph explaining the value of printed publications or a conclusion that completes the argument. Some connections are also unclear: the sentence about what “some people believe” runs together, and “Secondly” introduces a point without clear punctuation before it. Develop a separate paragraph for your disagreement and use linking phrases to show how each reason supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant basic vocabulary, including “printed newspaper or books,” “online reading,” “benefits,” and “save money,” so the general topic is understandable. However, the range is narrow and several spelling and word-form errors make the writing less controlled, such as “Nowdays,” “nowbody,” “monile,” and “usefull.” Some expressions are also imprecise or incomplete: “many peoples” is not the natural plural form, and “read newspaper or books” needs clearer, more accurate phrasing. Build a wider set of topic vocabulary for comparing print and digital media, such as “digital publications,” “physical copies,” and “subscription costs,” and check spelling and common collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You communicate some ideas through simple sentences and make an attempt at a complex sentence with “because,” as in “I partly disagree with the statement because…”. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. The opening claim about what “some people believe” is not formed as a complete, clear sentence, and the phrase “printed newspaper or books still usefull” lacks a correctly formed verb and article/plural agreement. In “Firstly, people can read news and books…,” the sentence is understandable, but the following “Secondly” point is not clearly separated with punctuation. Use complete sentences, check subject–verb structure and articles, and practise combining ideas with accurate punctuation. More varied sentence patterns would also help express and support your argument.
