IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
it is undeniable that everthing which people want to read they are now able to find on the internet and they do not have to pay for getting that information. However , i disagree with this notion that people will stop buying newspapers or books in the future. That i will explain in the following paragraphs.
First and foremost , people are find it easy while they reading books and newspapers ofline. To mean that , there are lots of factors that distracte a person while they are reading. For instance , if a person reads a book online and that time they will recieve notification from someone. As a result , it will distract them and they find it difficult while they read a book or newspaper. In addition , they do not able to consentrate while they read online. For that, sometimes they might be forget to capture important infromation from that book or newspapaer.
on the same hand , there are lots of sites which provides fake information and people are distinguise between which information is right and which one is wrong. For example, people search information about politics than some sites are giving different information from others and people are confusing between that information.Furthermore , many people will feel visibly impaired after reading from screen becasue they have to read from device. As a result , after reading long time they eyesight might be weak.
However , online reading books and newspapers are free and if people want to read information free than it is best platform for them but it might be happened that what they are reading is not accurate.Additionally , it is eassy to read from device. This is because we can carry our mobile phone anywhere and people are able to start reading from any place. For instance, people are going to garden and they want to read and they do not have any source of books but on the internet they will find it easily and read from anywhere.
To sum up , in the future people will buy printend books and newspapers because it is more accurate and apporopriate compared to online and there are no room for distraction. However , it is free to get information online but there is no gurantee that information is true.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you disagree that printed newspapers and books will disappear, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both sides by acknowledging the convenience and free access of online reading while arguing that print can reduce screen distractions and may offer more reliable information. These are relevant reasons, and the examples about notifications and conflicting political information help support them. The response therefore covers the task well, but some ideas are less fully developed than others. In particular, the claim that printed material is “more accurate” is asserted rather than explained, and the eyesight point needs a clearer link to why people would continue buying print. Develop these points with more precise reasoning to make the argument more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, a paragraph acknowledging online advantages, and a conclusion. The overall progression from print’s benefits to online reading’s convenience is understandable. You also use signposts such as “First and foremost,” “Furthermore,” and “To sum up.” However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. “On the same hand” does not clearly signal the relationship between the paragraphs, and “However” at the start of the final body paragraph introduces a concession without clearly connecting it to the preceding point. Some sentences also repeat the same idea about distraction or online access. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s main point explicit, then connect examples directly to that point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “notification,” “distract,” “concentrate,” “accurate,” and “visibly impaired.” There are also attempts to express distinctions, such as “different information” and “free access.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “people are distinguish between” and “people are confusing between that information” do not express the intended idea naturally; “people struggle to distinguish between the sources” would be clearer. Spelling errors such as “everthing,” “ofline,” and “apporopriate” are noticeable. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures: “if a person reads a book online…” and “As a result, it will distract them.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main argument is generally understandable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “people are find it easy” should be “people find it easy,” while “there are lots of sites which provides” needs subject–verb agreement (“provide”). The opening sentence also needs clearer clause structure, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement and verb forms.
