In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the future, printed newspaper and books are less popular because people can read information online. Although internet provide digital content to users. I disagree with that printed material will completely disappear because many people prefer conventional reading mathod and not all content is free.

On the one hand, reading with online meterial have several advamtages. People can read articles, newspaper, books and docomentry through their smartphones, laptop and computer. This is convenient because people do not have to carry books or visit to a shop to buy newspaper. For example, individuals can read it, when they are travelling form one location to another. Moreover, many websites such as wikipedia, bbc and cnn provide offer free articles and digital books, which help people to save money. For instance, pupils can find educational material without spending a large amou nt of money on printed books.

On the other hand, I belive printed newspaper and books will continue to exist for several resons. Firstly, some people find traditional meterials more comfortable to read because looking at screen for long period can cause eye infection. Secondy, physcial books do not electric gadgets to charge, individuals can read them anywhere. In addition, not everything avaiable online is free, many newspaper, digital and educational websites require montly subscripation. Therefore, printed material will remain to people and they do not want to pay for online services.

In conclusion, although, digital technology has made reading easier and affordable. But i disagree that noboday will buy printed materials in the future, it is beneficial for individuals with eye sight issue and they do not need to pay every month subscribation..

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you disagree that printed materials will disappear, and you address both the convenience and low cost of online reading and reasons print may remain. The examples about reading while travelling and pupils accessing educational resources support the online side, while eye discomfort, device charging and subscriptions support your view. This covers the task well, though some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that print will remain because people do not want to pay for online services could be developed by explaining why buying a book or newspaper may be preferable. To strengthen the response further, explain how these reasons support your prediction about the future, rather than mainly listing advantages and disadvantages.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from online benefits to reasons print may survive is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some linking is mechanical, and a few connections are unclear. In the final paragraph, “although” and “But” are used together, making the relationship between the ideas awkward. The sentence about subscriptions also joins several claims with commas, so their relationship is less clear. Use a wider range of linking methods and make each sentence’s connection to the paragraph’s main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “digital content,” “conventional reading” and “monthly subscription,” and you attempt to discuss both online and printed media. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “mathod,” “advamtages,” “docomentry,” “physcial” and “subscribation.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “eye infection” for discomfort caused by screen use and “printed material will remain to people.” These issues limit precision and flexibility. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations for reading and publishing, such as “printed publications remain popular” and “cause eye strain.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although internet provide digital content to users” and a relative clause in “which help people to save money.” However, control is uneven, and errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and clause structure occur across the response. For example, “internet provide” needs subject–verb agreement, while “Although internet provide digital content to users” is an incomplete clause when left as a sentence. The conclusion also combines “although” with “But,” creating a faulty structure. Practise forming complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check agreement and articles. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
