IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
I am totally agree about the people who will start reading newspapers or magazines on their screen. It is more efficient because public who starting to read newspaper, they should read it without any cost. It is more convinient by using technology gadgets like smart phones, laptop and smart TV every individual will search out the daily updated news report and podcast and figure out easily.
However, major advantage of reading newspaper online instead of printed papers is free of cost. Everyone get raw material from several websites or from artificial intelligence and read it smoothly when they are travelling, walking, before sleeping and relaxing. Just like me when I am travelling in bus I read stories online and there are various type of platforms where web designers drop massive arguments and reports of daily fax.
Moreover, in future it will spread widly because technology changes the mind of general public by their inhance features and mostly people will become addictive of it and will forget their liabilities and prefer the newspapers more then their family. But nation forget their independence and will become slave of technology by calling their product free of cost. Reading online effects eyeside and children and old people loss their view soon as possible because radiations are very dangerous for human health.
As a result individual will be changing their reading system of printed or hardform detail news with readingnews online due to cheap way to get books, newspapers, facts and information without any price.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a clear general position in favour of online reading, especially through the opening claim that people will read newspapers on screens and the conclusion that they will change from printed to online news. You also give relevant reasons, including free access and convenience while travelling. However, the response only partially develops the question’s central prediction that nobody will buy printed books or newspapers: it focuses mainly on newspapers and does not explain whether books will also become fully digital. The discussion of technology addiction, family responsibilities and health risks introduces a counterpoint, but its relationship to your overall agreement is not made clear. Develop each reason with a specific explanation and make your degree of agreement consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, and linking expressions such as “However,” “Moreover” and “As a result” show an attempt to guide the reader. The first two body paragraphs broadly discuss convenience and cost, while the later paragraph introduces possible disadvantages. However, progression is not consistently clear: the paragraph beginning “Moreover” moves from technology’s spread to addiction, national independence and health effects without showing how these points connect. Some links are also awkward or repetitive, and the final sentence largely repeats the opening idea rather than drawing together the argument. Organise the essay around a clear sequence—your position, developed supporting reasons, then a relevant qualification—and use references that make relationships between ideas explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “printed papers,” “websites,” “daily updated news” and “radiations,” and you attempt less common expressions such as “slave of technology.” This gives you a basic range for discussing digital reading. However, noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow, as in “convinient,” “widly,” “inhance features,” “daily fax” and “eyeside.” Phrases such as “raw material” and “massive arguments” do not clearly express the intended ideas in this context. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “online publications,” “digital content” and “screen-related eye strain” would help you explain your points clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional-style prediction about how technology may affect the public. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in “I am totally agree,” “Everyone get” and “people who starting”; articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “by using technology gadgets … every individual will search out.” The long sentence beginning “Moreover” joins several ideas without clear grammatical control, and punctuation does not consistently separate them. These errors can make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, then build longer sentences from shorter, correctly punctuated clauses.
