Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that online access will reduce the need to buy printed books and newspapers. You give relevant reasons, including lower costs and the convenience of reading on a phone, and the personal example of reading outdoors helps illustrate convenience. However, the response mainly explains why online reading is beneficial rather than fully examining the prediction that nobody will buy printed material. The claim that online content is free is treated as certain, and there is no consideration of why some people may continue to prefer or purchase print. Develop the argument by addressing the absolute wording of the statement and supporting your position with a more balanced explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas about cost and portability are separated into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the main points. However, progression within sentences is often difficult to track because linking expressions are overused or inaccurately placed, such as “Moreover” and “However” appearing mid-sentence without clear punctuation. Some connections are also repetitive: both body paragraphs rely on “For instance” or “For example” to introduce support, while the conclusion largely repeats earlier benefits. Use fewer, more precise transitions, and make each paragraph develop one reason through a clear explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “electronic versions,” “physical books,” “innovation” and “freedom,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which sometimes makes the message less clear. Examples include “the need of purchase,” “connections” for internet access, and “saves our power” when you mean effort. Spelling errors such as “dissapear” and “throw” also affect accuracy. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling; for example, describe the convenience of accessing digital publications rather than repeatedly saying that readers can find “everything” online.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “if” and “since,” but complex structures are often not controlled successfully. Errors occur in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries: “Technology facilitate,” “a physical books,” and “read books and newspapers online give us” show problems with agreement or number. The opening also joins ideas with a comma before “Moreover,” and several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation. These recurring errors can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation.
