Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you accept that online news may replace printed newspapers, while disagreeing that physical books will disappear. You support this with relevant points about faster online updates, free articles, eye strain, the enjoyment of physical pages, and books as gifts or collectibles. This addresses both the prediction and the extent of your agreement. Some ideas, however, are more fully explained than others: the reasons newspapers may decline are linked to convenience and cost, while the claim that books have “sentimental and value” is not clearly developed. To strengthen the response, explain how these preferences are likely to sustain book purchases, and distinguish more explicitly between newspapers and books in your concluding position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the shift from newspapers to books, and the ideas generally progress in a sensible order. This gives the response a coherent foundation. Some links are mechanical or unclear, however: “Since” is awkwardly separated from the preceding sentence, and “Therefore” introduces a conclusion that is not fully supported by the preceding point. The final paragraph also repeats the main position rather than bringing the two strands together precisely. Use linking expressions more selectively, and make the relationship between each reason and its result explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “online platform,” “news outlets,” “advertisement,” “eye strain,” “digital devices,” and “collecting books.” These choices make the main ideas understandable and show attempts to use language beyond basic terms. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “physical books will become vanished,” “the individual far more practical,” and “physical boolks” are examples. Some expressions are also repeated, particularly “physical” and “in future.” Aim for more precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe books as “disappear” or “become obsolete,” and say that online reading is “more convenient for readers.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “although,” and “when,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. There are also some sentence patterns that communicate comparisons and reasons clearly. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “many people … believes” should use a plural verb, “the online platform provide” needs agreement, and “the newspapers will published” has an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “Since, major news outlets…” is also punctuated and structured awkwardly, while the conclusion’s “although … but” construction is faulty. Review subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences with one clear linking structure.
