In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is a contentious debate among many people that printed newspapers or books will have less buyers in the nearer future because through the advancement of technology, people will be capable of reading books and getting news from online without any membership payment. This essay agrees with the former viewpoint of this statement because innovation of technology will make our lives easier.
In recent years, people are tend to receive any information from their mobile phones, tablets and laptops through social media platforms.Additionally, people who are keen to read books or getting with an updated news they are able to get all the neccessary news and books from online website without any physical movement to libraries as well as membership payments.Nowadays,E-book is becoming a popular trend among readers because people can read books from this particuar device without even paying a large amount. Moreover, with the time being people are less likely to involve themselves in any hurdles reasonably, they prioritise simple and easier life over stressful palcements.
From my perspective,I agree with the former view of this arguement because I belive that innovative lifestyle has made each and every imperative sectors of lives more accessible and easy. For instance,If a reader goes to a public library they are provided with a membership process for book-loans and other activities which consists of an admin fee which may create a hustling situation for the reader.Rather than roaming around libraries readers can read books or get updated news without dealing with payment hustles.Accessibility to various news portals and websites has made a smooth process for intended readers whereas, visiting libraries every other day can be quite tiring for any readers.Furthermore, printed books which are of premium quality are generally expensive which is also creating a barrier for book-lovers.
In conclusion, rather than struggling for reading books and giving payments I believe online websites has created an easy escape for readers who does not wanna spend money or feels tiring to visit libraries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that online access will reduce demand for printed books and newspapers, and you give relevant reasons, including convenience, avoiding library visits and fees, and the cost of printed books. However, the response addresses the claim only partially because it does not fully examine the prediction that nobody will buy printed material, or the specific claim that online reading will be free. The discussion focuses mainly on books and library membership, with little attention to newspapers or to whether free online content will remain available. Some points, such as the idea that people prefer an easier life, are asserted rather than explained. Develop both sides of the claim and support your reasons with clearer examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main position is easy to follow. Ideas generally progress from online convenience to the costs and effort associated with printed material. You also use linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “For instance,” and “Furthermore.” At times, however, connections feel mechanical or unclear: the second body paragraph repeats the convenience argument from the first, and “whereas” does not clearly connect the ideas in “websites has made a smooth process … whereas, visiting libraries…”. Some sentences contain several points without clear separation. Give each paragraph a distinct purpose and use referencing and transitions more precisely to avoid repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “advancement of technology,” “membership payments,” “accessibility,” and “premium quality.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “easy,” “read,” and “people,” and several choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural. For example, “less buyers” should be “fewer buyers,” “updated news” is better expressed as “the latest news,” and “hustling situation” does not convey the intended idea naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “neccessary,” “particuar,” and “arguement.” Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “whereas.” However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries can make the reader pause. Examples include “people are tend to receive,” “people who are keen to read books … they are able,” and “online websites has created.” The opening sentence also runs several ideas together, while commas are often missing after introductory phrases. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, and check subject–verb agreement and verb patterns. More reliable control of these structures would improve clarity.
