In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In contemporary society, online newsartickles has emerged as a highly deabated issue. While a segment of people firmly believes that in the future individuals will not purchase printed books or newpapers, other strongly oppose this notion. This aims to critically examine both perspectivs. From my standpoint, I firmly agree that everyone in the future will prefer virtual notes as it offers a multitude of significant adnvantages.

To commence with, a compelling reason supprting my viewpoint is that onlline notes provides provides flexivility and accessibility. When individuals reads through online plateforms, they become capable of reading their notes at any inconvinent location. Moreover, this not only enables them to save their money and time consumed in purchasing printed notes but also enhances their learning and technological skills. Consequently, a large proportion of people can derive substantial benifits from virtual reading notes. For instance, university pupils always prefer notes in soft form to minimise their daily expenses and maintaining availabiliaty these notes each and every time. Hence, it is undeniable that virtual notes play a vital role in students learing abilty and conviniency.

Another noteworthy justification is that soft copy of new articles and other documents can easily be accessed by everyone. This facilatates individuals to learn more efficiently and accomplish superior outcomes. Additionally, digital books and novels enables studends to read and save for future prospectives without covering any physical space. As a result individual witness remarkable progress in their acadmic and professional careers. for example, many international studends who can't offord payments of books that are in high demand completing their studies using same material from online plateforms. This instance clearily highlights how virtual books contributes significantely to education. Therfore, this strongly reinforce the arguement that printed notes will not be utilised in the future.

To conclude, although argued by some that soft form notes may result in certain drawbacks, I firmly believe that it offers far more benifits. This is primarily because it enables individuals to read conviniently at their own pace and enhances their knowlede. Therefore, online education should be actively promoted in modern society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that digital reading will replace printed materials, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons, including lower costs, convenient access and reduced need for physical storage. The examples about university students and international students also help illustrate your points. However, the response only partly addresses the exact claim. The prompt says people will be able to read everything online without paying, but your discussion focuses mainly on convenience and educational benefits; it does not examine whether free online access is realistic or whether printed books and newspapers may still be preferred. Some claims, such as “everyone” preferring virtual notes, are broad and not fully supported. Develop the reasons more specifically and connect them directly to the future of printed newspapers and books.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from convenience and affordability to wider access and educational benefits. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Consequently” and “To conclude” make the relationships between points easy to follow. This coherent arrangement is a strength. At times, however, the links feel formulaic, and some references are unclear: “This instance” does not identify precisely which point it refers to, while “this” in the conclusion could refer to several benefits. The paragraphs also repeat the idea of online notes being convenient and beneficial without always adding a distinct step to the argument. Use more precise referencing and make each paragraph develop a separate, clearly connected reason.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “accessibility,” “substantial benefits,” “physical space” and “professional careers.” These choices show an effort to discuss the topic beyond very basic language. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “notes,” “virtual” and “soft form,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “inconvenient location,” “save for future prospectives” and “covering any physical space.” Numerous spelling errors—including “deabated,” “newpapers,” “flexivility” and “acadmic”—also make the writing less fluent and can distract the reader. Choose vocabulary that precisely describes books and newspapers, check spelling carefully, and learn common combinations such as “access digital publications” and “take up physical space.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, including “While a segment of people…,” “not only… but also…” and clauses introduced by “although.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is usually understandable. However, errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. For example, “online notes provides” has subject–verb disagreement, “When individuals reads” has an incorrect verb form, and “digital books and novels enables” repeats the agreement problem. The sentence beginning “for example, many international students…” is also incomplete, and “although argued by some” is not a complete, well-formed clause. Check agreement and sentence completeness, and revise complex sentences to ensure each has a clear subject and verb.
