Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is stated in the introduction and conclusion: you agree that online reading will replace printed material. You also identify relevant reasons, including accessibility, affordability and changing public demand. However, the response only partially develops the task. The discussion of past reading habits takes up substantial space without clearly explaining whether printed books and newspapers will disappear, and the claim that people read to demonstrate social status is not connected convincingly to the prediction. The main argument for online reading is mostly a list of advantages rather than supported explanation or examples. To strengthen the response, address the absolute claim that “nobody” will buy print, and explain whether any readers or situations may remain exceptions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay has recognisable paragraphs for an introduction, two body sections and a conclusion, and the reader can generally follow the broad contrast between past and present reading. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from buying books to gaining knowledge, technology, social cohesion and magazines without showing how these points connect. Linking phrases such as “Hence,” “However” and “Therefore” are used, but some do not express a clear relationship between the ideas around them. The conclusion also introduces claims about artificial intelligence and creativity that have not been established earlier. Build each body paragraph around one main point, explain it, and use transitions that accurately show cause, contrast or result.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a varied vocabulary, including “accessibility,” “ubiquitousness,” “technological advancements” and “social cohesion,” and the topic is usually identifiable. However, many choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “the need … does seem to be prosper” does not express a clear idea, while “sniff the scent of new magazines” is an unsuitable image in this context. There are also spelling errors such as “ambigious,” “convinientness” and “affordibility,” alongside awkward combinations such as “level the field.” Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than inserting uncommon words; check spelling and confirm that each phrase conveys the intended point.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex sentence forms, including the opening contrast beginning “Although” and the relative clause “which includes online magazines…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction can make ideas hard to follow. Examples include “does seem to be prosper,” “many folks considered it beneficial to bought,” and “almost everyone examine and comes.” The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and punctuation around clauses and lists is unreliable. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. In particular, check subject–verb agreement and verb forms after “to,” and proofread sentence boundaries and commas.
