IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is not wrong to say that in the next decades everyone will read pieces of newspaper or everything they want online without even giving charges. well, I am absolutely agree with this point of view because nowadays internet is providing numerous advancements everywhere but reading through books is a different of fun for different people. Here I will support my opinion with few reasons;
As far as myself is concerned, I think that if we analyze the today's current situation of people then there is not any dubious thing that we are suggesting digitalization than to work ourselves. There are just fewer number of people who prefer to buy and read newspaper in printed form or with the assistance of books. Significantly, they are probably the people who are habitual or old enough.
Going ahead, reading newspaper in paper form is a brilliant way to modify our reading skills more than through online. Because in my opinion if we have a book or print in our hand then we can develop and boost our concentrate rather. By this way we can remember things for a long period of time interval however we can highlight compulsory, detective or some interesting facts which our Hippocampus can store it for long.
As I said before, if we discuss about the current circumstances then the people usually have lesser limit of time and even they prioritize that thing which requires less time. However, now everyone has mobile phone available in their pockets so whenever they want to watch or read anything they prefer it by seeing that material online walking instead of carrying a paper in hand and sitting for a while.
In conclusion, I would rather say that both the situations are excellent enough because if we can read things with newspaper in printed form more accurately than simultaneously reading online can also saves a little time if we utilize well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a position in favour of the prediction, but the response only partly addresses the question. The prompt asks whether printed newspapers and books will disappear because online material will be free; your discussion mainly compares the convenience of online reading with the benefits of print, without clearly explaining whether people will stop buying both books and newspapers or whether free access is likely. The point that older or habitual readers may continue buying print is relevant, but it is not developed with examples or explanation. Your conclusion also shifts towards saying both formats are useful, which makes your degree of agreement less clear than the opening suggests. Develop a consistent position and support each main reason directly in relation to the prediction.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. However, the progression between ideas is not consistently clear: the paragraph about concentration and memory supports printed reading, while the next paragraph returns to online convenience, without explaining how these points combine to answer the question. Linking phrases such as “Going ahead” and “As I said before” are used, but they do not always show the precise relationship between ideas. Some sentences also contain several points at once, making the line of argument harder to follow. Organise the body around a small number of clear reasons, use topic sentences, and connect each example explicitly to your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary beyond basic everyday language, including “digitalization,” “prioritize,” “circumstances” and “concentrate.” However, the range is limited by repeated general wording such as “people,” “things” and “read,” and several inaccurate or unnatural choices sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to understand. For example, “giving charges” does not naturally express paying, and “lesser limit of time” is unclear. Phrases such as “a different of fun” and “compulsory, detective or some interesting facts” also show difficulty selecting precise words for the intended meaning. Build a more accurate range around the topic, especially terms for print and digital media, cost, access and reading habits, and check collocations before using less familiar expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses beginning with “if” and “because,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “I am absolutely agree,” “if we analyze the today's current situation,” and “online can also saves,” where verb forms or sentence construction are incorrect. Agreement and article use are also inconsistent, as in “fewer number of people” and “a different of fun.” Punctuation and capitalization need attention too, particularly the lowercase “well” after a full stop and the semicolon before the body. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea, then add subordinate clauses only when you can control their grammar.
