IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 4.5)
"In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying".
I totally agree with this statements.
Because back in the old days there were no technologicals tools which could inform us about different events happening in the world, so people were reading news papers
And if they want to learn something they would have to find a book and then learn from it.
But as the technology get more advance people will not even look at printed books and news papers.
Even right now most of people learn from social media , youtube and they watch TV and newschannels to inform themselvs from the different events which are happening in the world
Like out of 100 people only a small number of people will even consider reading a printed news paper because right now we got the best technology, we can read anything online, we can watch anything we want whether you want educational content or you want entertainment, whether you want to watch news channels .
You can do all of this just from your smart phone.
And i have yet to see someone in the younger generation who even read a newspaper.
So there will be no concept of reading printed newspaper and books in future
Even still most people don't read it except people who are alot older or from the older generation
So i definitly agree that there will be no body in future who will read printed newspaper
And to even further proof my point
here are the few reason
1st the technology will get more advance in future as compare to the technology we have right now
2nd the number of people reading printed material is decreasing drastically like in last few years after this number decreased alot , Now even educational institue share their lectures and other research materials in soft copy.
3 Base on the younger generation who are too much distracted they will not go and buy a hard printed newspaper or book to read it , they can easily can read on their smart phones or laptops and also they can get the book on the kindle
so this statement is completly true and i don't see that a normal human will do that much work to buy a printed newspaper or book if they an get the newspaper or book within second in their laptop or phone.
And Nowdays everything online is free, youtube has alot of videos about different books and niches, there are alot of different newschannels on youtube which any body can watch from anywhere.
and even you can read news papers for free online now days so if people can get something quick, freee and even better
why a normal human will spend money and time on buying hard printed newspaper or books
SO I COMPLETELY AGREE THAT IN FUTURE NO BODY WILL READ PRINTED NEWSPAPER OR BOOKS
Because in Present we can access any news paper or any books for freee online without paying a single penny

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you repeatedly state that you agree printed newspapers and books will disappear, and you give relevant reasons, including the convenience of phones, online access and declining interest among younger readers. However, the response only partly addresses the claim. It treats free online access as certain and does not examine whether all books and newspapers will actually be available without payment, or why some people may continue to prefer print. Several points repeat the same idea rather than developing it; for example, the claims about younger people and reading on phones recur without specific support. The examples about social media and YouTube are relevant but do not fully establish that printed books will no longer be bought.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a recognisable overall direction: it begins with agreement, gives reasons and ends by restating the position. Some sequencing is also signalled by “1st” and “2nd.” However, ideas are not arranged coherently into developed paragraphs, and many short, separate lines interrupt the progression. The numbered reasons appear late and repeat points already made, while “And to even further proof my point” introduces a list without a clear connection to the preceding discussion. Linking words such as “And,” “So” and “Even” are used repeatedly or mechanically, and references such as “this number” are unclear. Group related reasons into paragraphs and use transitions to show how each point supports your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “printed material,” “educational content,” “soft copy” and “younger generation.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “printed newspaper,” “technology” and “free.” Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, such as “technologicals tools,” “newschannels,” “hard printed newspaper” and “different books and niches.” Spelling errors, including “definitly,” “completly” and “institue,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms—for example, distinguish between print publications, digital editions and online resources. These improvements would make your argument clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences using clauses and reasons, as in “because back in the old days there were no… tools which could inform us,” but control is inconsistent, and many sentences are incomplete or joined incorrectly. “I totally agree with this statements” is a sentence fragment followed by an agreement error, while “as the technology get more advance” has problems with tense and verb form. Other examples include “most of people learn” and “they can easily can read,” where articles or verb patterns are not controlled. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly at sentence beginnings and around the long sentence beginning “so if people can get something quick.” Practise complete sentence boundaries and accurate subject–verb agreement before adding more complex structures.
