In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In future nobody will buy printed newspaper or books beacause they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. I agree with this statement, its true beacause even from now it starts happening. In today's time every person is very busy either he is a student or a worker and there is very less time for these things. In past many peoples wanted to read books and newspaper and they read even daily newspaper comes home to almost every persons house beacuse at that time social media was not introduce and famous this much so everything was manual and at that time competition was low so study was not to hard like today. At that time there is a free time to do many activities. The other reason for this is also that there is no digital videos technology not came so there is no dramas and videos to see so people prefer reading either it is a newspaper or a novel or any other book. But now everything is online even newspapers and books also uploaded online you can find any book from internet even now course book of our universities are also online. It does't means that there is no book in future, books are printed and avilable in libraries but people prefer to read online beacuse its easy and you listen news and read books anywhere anytime even while standing you don't have to find suitable place and then you open. And you not have to pay everytime for each newspaper or a book.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a clear position in favour of the statement and give relevant reasons, including the convenience of online reading and the availability of books and newspapers on the internet. The comparison with the past also helps explain why reading habits have changed. However, several points are asserted rather than developed: for example, being busy and having less time is not clearly linked to why people will stop buying print, and the claim that online material is free is not examined. The response also does not fully explore the prediction that nobody will buy printed books or newspapers. The required minimum was not met: the response is 248 words, with 12 words copied from the prompt excluded from the count. Develop the reasons and address the absolute nature of the claim more directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a recognisable progression: it states agreement, describes reading in the past, and then contrasts this with online access today. Linking phrases such as “In past,” “But now,” and “The other reason” signal some relationships between ideas. However, the writing is presented as one long paragraph, so the main stages of the argument are not clearly separated. Several ideas are crowded together, and the sequence sometimes becomes difficult to follow, particularly in the discussion of social media, competition, study, and free time. Repeated use of “at that time” and “even” also makes cohesion mechanical. Use separate paragraphs for the position, supporting reasons, and conclusion, and make each paragraph develop one central point with clearer links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “printed,” “online,” “libraries,” “newspaper,” and “novel.” There are also attempts to express broader concepts, such as “competition” and “digital videos technology.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which can make the reader pause. Examples include “in today’s time,” “social media was not introduce,” and “there is no digital videos technology not came.” Spelling errors such as “beacause,” “avilable,” and “does't” are noticeable. Build a more precise vocabulary for changing reading habits and digital access, and check spelling and natural word combinations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, contrasts, and subordinate clauses, so there is some variety. The main position and several supporting points remain understandable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For instance, “social media was not introduce” has an incorrect verb form, while “there is no digital videos technology not came” combines clauses in a way that obscures the meaning. The opening also joins independent ideas with a comma in “I agree with this statement, its true.” Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then connect them accurately using conjunctions; check tense consistency and subject–verb agreement.
