IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The increasing availablity of online books and newspaper will lead to the decline of printed newspaper and books. I strongly agree with this view that, in future people will prefer online books and newspapers instead of printed ones.
The primary reason for that would be, the convience, Internet is an integral part of our society and the use of it will only increase in future. People can easily find a book online for free and can read it how many times they want which is very easy and cheap for them. Furthermore, same with the newpaper. News are easily available online and people can read it from there only which will lead to save man labour and cost.
Subsequently, the other reason would be accessblity, people in future all across the globe can easily access any book or any news at any time. They can easily save 1000 of books in one single device without any price, by contrast buying phyisical books would cost them money and physical space. Hence, people will choose online medium and they style of reading will eventually get evolve with the time.
In conclusion, I agree that medium of reading and taking information will evolve with the time according to the convience and accessiblity of the people. To save man labour and cost, people will choose easy medium according to their needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that readers will move towards online publications. You also give two relevant reasons—convenience and accessibility—and briefly compare digital access with the cost and space required for physical books. However, these points are only partly developed: for example, the claim that online news saves “man labour and cost” is not explained, and the essay does not explore the prompt’s assumption that online reading will be free. The response is also 23 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop and support your ideas. To strengthen the response, explain each reason with a specific example and address the free-access claim directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Subsequently,” and “Hence” help signal the progression. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “Subsequently” does not accurately introduce a second reason, and “Furthermore, same with the newspaper” does not form a clear link or complete sentence. References such as “from there only” also make the relationship between ideas less precise. Use simpler, more natural transitions, and make each paragraph develop one reason in a clear sequence: claim, explanation, and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “integral part,” “accessibility,” “physical space,” and “medium,” and the reader can generally understand your argument. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors are noticeable, such as “availablity,” “convience,” “newpaper,” and “accessblity.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “save man labour and cost” and “their style of reading” do not communicate your intended meaning smoothly. Aim to check spelling carefully and choose more precise phrases for discussing cost, convenience, and reading habits. Vary repeated words such as “easily” and “people” to make the argument more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which will lead to save man labour and cost” and a contrast introduced by “by contrast.” Your main position remains understandable, but some sentence structures and grammatical patterns are inaccurate. For example, “the convenience, Internet is an integral part” joins ideas with faulty punctuation, while “people in future all across the globe can easily access” has an awkwardly ordered phrase. In “people will choose online medium,” the article is missing, and “will eventually get evolve” uses an incorrect verb construction. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries.
