Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, printed newpapers and books are very out-dated. Most individuals believe that digital platforms provide same informations without paying. From my perspective, i largely agree with this phenomenon. Because social platforms are easily accesible also save money and so on.

Firstly, we can use online platforms everywhere. So, we can access any current affairs or books easily which are also helps to saving time. Students, for example, want to read book in the cafe or outsides. So they can easily find the book in online. Therefore, online helps us to provide current affairs in short time. Closely linked with this is the fact that easy storage and portability. Digital books are easier to store and carry. People can keep thousands of books on a single device without needing physical storage space. For instance, universities students can access numerous textbooks in their digital devices without carrying them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you largely agree that online reading will replace printed materials, and you give relevant reasons, including convenience, portability, lower costs and reduced paper use. Examples about students accessing textbooks and keeping many books on one device help support the argument. However, the response does not fully explore the claim that people will be able to read everything online without paying. The environmental point is relevant but is not directly connected to whether printed books and newspapers will disappear, and the conclusion mainly repeats convenience rather than drawing the reasons together. Develop the ideas more evenly—for example, explain whether free online access is reliable and whether some readers will still prefer print—to make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The body paragraphs group related points, and examples generally follow the claims they illustrate. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression. At times, however, connections feel mechanical or unclear. “Closely linked with this” introduces storage and portability, but the relationship to the preceding point about access is not fully explained. The repeated use of “So” and “Because” also makes some transitions abrupt, and the final paragraph is too brief to bring the main arguments together. Use a wider range of linking methods and make the relationship between each claim and its example explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “digital platforms,” “current affairs,” “portability,” “physical storage space” and “paper production.” These choices allow you to discuss several aspects of online reading, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations reduce precision: examples include “newpapers,” “informations,” “accesible,” “expanse” and “digital platforms help environment.” Some phrases are also vague or repetitive, such as “and so on” and repeated references to “online.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and choose more precise terms—for example, distinguish free access from simply reading online, and describe the environmental benefit as reducing demand for paper. Proofreading spelling and plural forms would also strengthen clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “People can keep thousands of books on a single device without needing physical storage space” and a conditional-style explanation beginning “which means.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “which are also helps to saving time” has problems with agreement and verb form, while “it will helps us” uses an incorrect verb form after “will.” There are also sentence fragments, such as “Because social platforms are easily accessible also save money,” and “Because trees are used for making newspapers or books.” Work on complete sentence construction, subject–verb agreement, and verb patterns after modal verbs. Combining these fragments with the preceding sentence would improve control.
