Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the contemporary era the use of printed newspapers and physical books is becoming outdated. Individuals can now read every book online and access to worldwide new just from their smartphone. I believe that in the upcoming year no will consider printed buying newspaper and printed books.
There are multiple disadvantages of buying printed newspapers daily and books which includes cost, availability and production problem.
In Pakistan most of the people can not buy newspapers every days because of the cost they have to pay every day. Another reason is availability
if, you need and kind book or newspapers you have to visit the shop to buy then which is time taking process and most of the students dont have that much time between their studies. Production of book and newspaper is another issues because of less production facilities and increasing cost of raw material. production of paper also contributes to industrial pollution.
There are various kind of advantages of reading newspaper and books online using digital tool like smartphone and computers. Firstly its cost effective you can read many books just buying a online library membership or for free on many websites. Now universities are also working on their own e-libraries to facilitate students to read different book and newspapers. E-book and newspapers are also a sustainable solution for industrial pollution because it provides alternative for paper based books and newspapers in less cost without creating any harm to environment.
In conclusion, printed books and newspapers have many drawbacks like high cost and production issues. while digital books provide multiple advantages to students and individuals with lower cost options , moreover its has various benefits for environment. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You present a clear position: you expect printed newspapers and books to disappear, and you support this with points about cost, access, production, and environmental effects. These ideas are relevant to the question, and the Pakistan example gives one point some context. However, the response focuses mainly on why digital reading is advantageous rather than fully examining the claim that everything will be available online without payment. You mention free websites but also paid library membership, without clarifying how this affects your agreement. The prediction that “no individual will buy” printed materials is asserted rather than supported, and the disadvantages of print are more developed than possible reasons it may continue. Addressing these counterpoints and explaining your degree of agreement more precisely would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on disadvantages of print, a paragraph on digital benefits, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “Firstly,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion.” However, some links are mechanical, and the second paragraph moves quickly between cost, availability, students’ time, production, and pollution without showing how each point connects to the central prediction. The phrase “if, you need…” interrupts the flow, while the conclusion repeats earlier points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer topic sentences and transitions that show cause and effect, and make references such as “it” and “which” unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “availability,” “production facilities,” “raw material,” “sustainable solution,” and “industrial pollution.” These terms help you discuss the topic beyond basic everyday language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “worldwide new,” “printed buying newspaper,” “time taking process,” and “a online library membership.” There are also repeated general terms such as “advantages,” “drawbacks,” and “books,” which limits precision. Spelling and word-form errors, including “every days” and “different book,” are noticeable but the overall meaning remains understandable. Aim to learn common topic collocations and check spelling and word forms during editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause in “because of the cost” and a relative clause in “which includes cost, availability and production problem.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent. Errors include subject–verb agreement (“which includes” after plural “disadvantages”), missing or incorrect articles (“a online library membership”), and plural forms (“different book”). Some sentence boundaries and punctuation are also faulty: “Another reason is availability if, you need…” should be separated and punctuated more clearly. The conclusion contains an unclear construction in “moreover its has various benefits.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the main message is generally recoverable. Practise accurate clause formation, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
