IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the future, No one will buy printed books or newspapers because everything will be availabe online to read without paying. I strongly agree with this statement as nowadays audio books had came.
In the near future, no one will buy the printed books as in futuristic world everything will be online, all the printed books will be available online as their costs are very high so people will not spent money on printed books. Artificial intellegence will be there all kinds of books will be availabe on artificial intellegence. Printed books and newspapers are very long to read which is so boring. Books and newspaper will no longer be available. There is a option called audio books which will later be available in mobile applications.
Furthermore, the audio books shall be like that an audio will play, the narrator will narrate the story, below there will be subtitles and the picture of story in front of the people. So that people will enjoy so much. Another option in the books will you can see outside your sunglasses, there will be a button on your specs people press it an ai agent speaks what you need to see you will tell the name of the book and it comes in front of you. People can understand stories very well by these ways.
This conclude that, the knowledge we are getting form books will be all availabe onlnie. People dont have to purchase books and newspapers. As news will also be online.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear in the opening: “I strongly agree,” and you give relevant examples of possible digital formats, including audiobooks and wearable technology. However, the response only partially addresses the central claim. The prompt is specifically about whether people will read books and newspapers online without paying, but much of your discussion describes how future devices might present stories rather than explaining why printed publications will disappear or whether online access will be free. The claim that printed books “will no longer be available” is asserted rather than supported, and the point about high costs needs explanation. Develop two or three reasons, such as convenience, cost, or environmental impact, and consider a counterpoint such as readers’ preference for physical books.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a concluding sentence. “Furthermore” signals an additional idea, and the examples of audiobooks and smart glasses broadly relate to your position. However, progression is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from online availability to artificial intelligence, the length of books, and audiobooks without clearly connecting these points. Some links are unclear, as in “So that people will enjoy so much,” and the conclusion mainly repeats the opening rather than drawing the argument together. Use topic sentences to state each paragraph’s main reason, then explain and illustrate it. Clearer links between claims and examples would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “printed books,” “newspapers,” “audio books,” “narrator,” and “subtitles,” which helps communicate your topic. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “available online,” “books,” and “people.” Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, such as “futuristic world,” “the costs are very high,” and “an audio will play.” Spelling errors such as “availabe,” “intellegence,” and “onlnie” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise language to explain your argument—for example, terms for convenience, digital access, and publication costs—and check spelling carefully. More varied, accurate phrasing would make your ideas clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate your main position using mostly simple sentence patterns, and there are attempts at longer structures, such as “as their costs are very high so people will not spent money.” However, these longer sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “audio books had came,” “people will not spent,” and “there is a option.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: “people press it an ai agent speaks” joins several clauses without clear structure. Practise accurate verb forms, articles, and agreement, and build complex sentences with clear connectors. For instance, separate the smart-glasses idea into shorter sentences before attempting to combine it.
