IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has been a matter arguemt that in future nobody will buy newspaper because they could get it free from online sources.I don’t think that this will happen and why i am thinking this,i will certainly explain.
Newspaper plays a vital role in and around the world because it gives authentic news to everyone and spreads knowledge. Most of the people like to read newspaper as they found it accessible, truthful and with a variety of news at once. For example,Old people found it very useful because it gives them a source of spending quality time.Besides many students can collect learning materials and can enhance their general knowledge by reading newspaper.
On the other hand, online sources are a great place for news about sports, education and political information which we can get withouth spending a single penny but it gradually eradicates our reading habit and makes us less creative for not using the thinking capability. Moreover the information in online website is not reliable.
From my Opinion,Both printed and online newspaper is important with almost similar object. But Printed news paper is more convinient and reliable as it comes from a standard source after passing some checking steps.Online news should be verified before publishing or before sharing it into social media.
In conclusion printed newspaper can easily accessible with lots of benifits and provides chance to develop natural skills while online newspaper lacking some formal process which could not make it trustable to people. That's why i think people will read it in future as they are reading it now.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree that printed newspapers and books will disappear, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You also address the contrast with online news, noting its free access while questioning its reliability. The examples about older people and students help make the case for print relevant. However, the discussion is narrower than the prompt, which asks about both newspapers and books; books receive almost no attention. Some claims, such as print developing “natural skills” and online sources reducing creativity, are asserted rather than explained or supported. To strengthen the response, address books explicitly and develop a few reasons with clearer explanation or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting print and online perspectives, a paragraph stating your view, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument understandable. You use linking expressions such as “For example,” “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion.” However, some connections feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is occasionally unclear—for instance, the claim that online sources reduce creativity is not linked clearly to the point about reliability. The final paragraph also repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting explanation directly to its main point; ensure references such as “it” have an unmistakable meaning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “authentic news,” “accessible,” “reliable,” “general knowledge,” and “verified,” which helps communicate your position. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “plays a vital role” and “standard source.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “arguemt,” “withouth,” “convinient,” and “benifits.” Some combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “similar object” and “online website,” while “natural skills” does not clearly express the intended idea. These choices sometimes make the argument less precise. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for discussing publishing, credibility, and reading habits.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because it gives authentic news” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. For example, “Most of the people like to read newspaper as they found it” shifts tense and has an article/plural issue; “Both printed and online newspaper is important” has a subject–verb agreement problem; and “printed newspaper can easily accessible” is missing a verb. Several sentences also run together without appropriate spaces after full stops. Review articles, plural nouns, agreement, and verb forms, then proofread sentence boundaries.
