IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The assertion that in future mankind will read everthing from digital platfroms free of cost rather than buying printed paper has generated considerable debate in recent years. Although there are valid arguments on both sides. However, I strongly agree with this statement primarily with the facts that it utilise time and improving the environment.
The foremost argument underpinning my arguments is that people are much bussier in their lives. The substantial attribute to this fact is that with increasing competition people also do not have enough leisure time to read printed newspaper deeply. For instance, to utilise time when individuals travel to there work place or having some break time in office as they are already frustrated, searching for printed newspaer may annoy them, so they preferred to obtain infromation from social sites which provide important headlines. This clearly demonstates that my given point of view clealy justifies that people are favouring to read online the exact data they want instead of finding it in large newspaper which is saving as well as utilising their time.
Equally significant is the fact that it is helping the people to increase the amount of their savings. To buy printed newspaper people have to pay for it which demands a part of their money and after the reading it is nothing more than a waste paper. To make paper wood is necessary requirement which cuminate to defforestation, damaging the environment. A pertinent example of this can be in India, people are tackling problems such as global warming which is mainly due to cutting off trees around 40% area covered with trees is empty according to recent studies. Nowadays, mankind is educated and implementing various methods to protect the environment and switching to digital reading rather than wasting paper.
In contrary, all the information provided on internet is not true which may lead to misunderstanding and false beliefs. Moreover, if people will completely rely on electronic devices this may decrease their congintive skills.
In conclusion, even after the existance of counterarguments, I firmly remain in the favour of my view point as it is saving the time as well as helping people to utilise time effectively and protecting the environment which is quite serious concern.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that online reading will replace printed newspapers and books, and you give relevant reasons about convenience, personal savings and environmental impact. The examples of reading during a commute and the use of paper also help connect your claims to the topic. You acknowledge counterarguments about unreliable online information and possible effects on cognitive skills, so the response addresses both sides. However, the discussion is uneven: the convenience point is developed at length, while the counterarguments are only briefly stated and not answered. The claim that nobody will buy printed books or newspapers is also broader than the evidence about newspaper reading. Develop the book aspect and explain more fully why your position outweighs the drawbacks.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument and a conclusion. The progression from convenience to savings and environmental effects is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “For instance” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some linking is mechanical or confusing. “Although there are valid arguments on both sides. However” creates an incomplete sentence followed by a redundant contrast marker, while “In contrary” is not an effective transition. The second body paragraph also moves quickly from personal savings to deforestation, so the relationship between these points could be made clearer. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make each paragraph’s central idea and supporting explanation more tightly connected.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital platforms,” “competition,” “deforestation,” “cognitive skills” and “counterarguments.” These choices show that you can discuss both practical and environmental aspects of the issue. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less fluent: examples include “everthing,” “platfroms,” “bussier” and “infromation.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “utilise time” and “a waste paper,” and “the exact data” does not clearly express the intended meaning. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and proofread spelling carefully. A more precise vocabulary range would help you express your ideas without relying on repeated references to time, people and reading.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “Although,” “which” and “as,” and your main ideas are generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence boundaries, verb forms, articles and agreement. For example, “Although there are valid arguments on both sides. However” leaves a dependent clause as a sentence, and “it utilise time and improving the environment” does not maintain a consistent verb structure. In “people are much bussier in their lives,” the comparative form also needs grammatical correction. Several long sentences combine multiple ideas, making control less secure. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check each sentence for a complete main clause, consistent verb forms and correct article use.
