IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Today technology may effect in some our routine in the approach future, such as buying newspaper or books to read it, due to our ability to download it in our phones and read it or even listen it in any time and place. So I completely agree with the main idea, and this essay will discuss my perspective and it supported them.
On the one hand, we do not have to buy for something that we have a chance to get it for free, especially it is a part of our routin and the effect can reilazed after year when we accounted the whole amount. Additionally of the place they took in the place or the dust when we put it in the shelf, even if we throw it in the corbeile it leads to the pollution and icreasing of paper in the environment.
On the other hand, some people argued that books and newspapers the best way to keep the information and also a feeling of carring book or even smell it, but i still agree that we can adapt we technology and change some old habbit, because europien people and chinees can improve their country by using a highest devices, and without care about secondary impact, so i can say even the book we can use the computer to read into it, as result we have a large screen and helo us to keep the same feeling, and for those intrest about newspapars we can see all the news just in social media and it a faster method than waiting in queue at the store.
Finally, despite that the topic had completely two different paths, but I firmly agree that in the future nobody will be care about buy books or newspaper, because literaly we have it in own phones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you completely agree that online access will replace buying printed material. You also address both sides by mentioning the convenience and environmental drawbacks of print, then acknowledging readers who value the physical feel of books. However, the response only partially develops the task’s central prediction that people will be able to read everything online without paying. The claim that social media provides news is relevant, but it does not explain whether books and newspapers will actually be available free or why printed purchases will disappear. The comparison with European and Chinese people is also unclear and not well connected to your argument. Develop fewer points with specific explanations and examples, and clarify how free online access supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “Finally” help signal these sections. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow: the second body paragraph moves from the appeal of physical books to countries’ technology, then to screens and social media without clear connections. Some references, such as “it” and “them,” are unclear, and the conclusion repeats the position rather than drawing together the main reasoning. Organise each paragraph around one main point, explain it in sequence, and use pronouns only when their reference is unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “pollution,” “environment,” “adapt,” and “secondary impact,” and you use some topic-specific expressions such as “social media” and “large screen.” However, the range is limited by frequent spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations, which sometimes make the meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “routin,” “reilazed,” “carring book,” and “a highest devices”; “corbeile” also obscures the intended meaning. Several phrases are imprecise, such as “the main idea” and “the whole amount.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, and choose precise terms for the ideas you want to express rather than relying on broad or translated phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “even if,” and “despite,” which shows an effort to vary sentence structure. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction can make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “technology may effect in some our routine” has an incomplete grammatical pattern, while “we can adapt we technology” and “nobody will be care” are not correctly formed. The opening sentence also contains unclear clause relationships. Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add subordinate clauses; check verb patterns after modal verbs and ensure each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
