IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's rapidly growing world, internet plays a major role in learning style of public. There are many individuals who argue that nobody will buy newspaper or physical books because they will be able to read everything online without paying. I completely agree with this notion because e- newspaper and e-books are cheaper and easily accessible for everyone.
To commence with the first point of view, e-newspaper and e-books are economical. Nowadays, internet is very affordable and readers can access any books and newspapers when they want to read. Individuals who are financially backward can continue their education by investing small amount on internet. For example, there are many aspirants who take help of online books and newspapers for their competitive exams without investing heavily on physical books. So, printed material will not be required.
In addition, there are many platforms and applications on the internet that help individuals to get access of every book and download it without paying any charge. For instance, people can prepare for free for their IELTS exams from Keen IELTS website. It provide authenticated study materials from the Cambridge, which provides accurate pattern for this exam. Moreover, students do not have to wait in long queues in library for the issuance of books. This helps them to save their time and invest that time in studies.
To encapsulate, it can be concluded that I firmly believe that online resources can not only save money of underprivileged people but also save time by providing authority
to utilize that material free of cost in their comfort zone. I hope people will use these type of resources for their future growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely agree because online newspapers and books are cheaper and accessible. You address the prompt with two relevant reasons—lower costs and convenient access—and support them with examples about exam preparation and free IELTS materials. However, the claim that readers can access “every book” online for free is too broad, and the discussion does not fully establish that printed books and newspapers will disappear in the future. The point about saving time in libraries is relevant to convenience, but its link to people no longer buying print could be explained more directly. Develop the future-focused argument and qualify generalisations with more precise support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Signposting such as “In addition” and “To encapsulate” helps readers follow the progression, and the examples are placed alongside the points they support. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, transitions such as “To commence with the first point of view” sound mechanical, and “So, printed material will not be required” makes a sudden leap from affordability to the disappearance of print. Improve the links between evidence and claims, and use a wider variety of natural transitions and clear referencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “e-newspaper,” “e-books,” “competitive exams,” and “study materials,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “underprivileged people” and “authenticated study materials.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “learning style of public,” “get access of every book,” and “save money of underprivileged people.” “Authority to utilize that material” also does not express your intended meaning clearly. These noticeable issues limit precision and sometimes make the reader pause. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and choosing simpler, exact expressions when unsure.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because e-newspaper and e-books are cheaper” and a relative clause in “applications … that help individuals.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “internet plays” needs an article, “It provide” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “investing small amount” needs an article. There are also problems with plural and demonstrative agreement in “these type of resources,” and the final sentence is awkwardly constructed. Work on articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence. More consistent accuracy across these structures would strengthen the response.
