Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You state that you agree, so your position is identifiable, and you refer to both printed publications and online reading. However, the response does not develop a clear, relevant argument: the two body paragraphs repeat conflicting claims, such as “nobody will buy” printed material and “many public” will continue buying it, without explaining why or supporting either view. The introduction also promises “two reasons” but does not set them out clearly. The conclusion repeats these points rather than resolving your position. The response is 248 words, so it is two words below the required minimum; the 19 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To improve, give two distinct reasons for your agreement or disagreement and explain each with a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “To being with,” “Futuremore” and “In sum up” signal paragraph roles. However, progression is difficult to follow because ideas are repeated and often contradict one another. For example, the first body paragraph says people will not buy printed material, while the next says many will buy it, but the relationship between these claims is not explained. Repeated use of “and,” “for example” and “in my opinion” does not show how one point leads to another, and references such as “the statement” are unclear. Build each paragraph around one main idea, then connect its explanation and example directly to that idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary includes relevant topic words such as “printed newspapers,” “books,” “online” and “without paying,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, the range is basic and highly repetitive, with “many public,” “newspapar(s)” and “buy” appearing repeatedly. Several word choices or forms make meaning unclear, including “the online,” “noenough time” and “the watching to online.” Spelling errors such as “besause,” “newspapars” and “imporatnt” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use a wider set of precise expressions for the topic and check spelling and natural word combinations. For instance, distinguish between accessing digital content for free and purchasing printed copies, rather than repeating the same wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic connectors, but sentence structures are mostly repetitive and frequently inaccurate, so relationships between ideas are not always clear. Examples include “i am agree,” “To being with,” and “many public in the future will buying,” which show problems with verb forms and sentence construction. Articles and prepositions are also often misplaced, as in “read the everything want to the online.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and sentence fragments beginning with “and.” Practise forming complete subject–verb sentences first, then add a subordinate clause to explain a reason. Check verb patterns, such as “agree with” and “will buy,” and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
