Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear overall position in the introduction: “I totally agree,” and your response gives relevant reasons, especially that online material can save time and money. However, the task is only partially addressed because the discussion does not fully explain why printed newspapers and books might disappear or examine the claim that everything will be available online for free. The point that people will have no time to read newspapers or books is asserted rather than supported, and the social-media and television examples focus more on news than on books. The conclusion repeats the main points but does not sharpen your position. Develop each reason with a clear explanation and a specific, relevant example, and address both newspapers and books more evenly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
Your response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “The conclusion” show an attempt to organise the essay. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because several different ideas are crowded into the first body paragraph, including social media, television, saving money and a survey about people’s thinking. Connections between these points are not always clear, and linking phrases such as “on the other hand” do not consistently express a contrast. The second body paragraph is brief and repeats the money-saving point. Give each paragraph one main idea, explain it in a logical sequence, and use linking words only where their meaning fits.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “traditional newspapers,” “modern era,” “technology” and “available on the internet.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response difficult to understand, for example “everthing,” “statmeant,” “refirbismeant” and “old thinks.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “the main idea in preseant individuals mind more sharp” and “learned the newsppaer.” These issues fit a response with basic, repetitive vocabulary and noticeable errors that sometimes strain communication. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocations; prefer clear wording over ambitious phrases you cannot yet control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You try to form longer sentences and use clauses, for example in the opening and in the sentence beginning “Firstly,” but these attempts are often faulty, and many sentences are difficult to parse. There are frequent problems with verb forms and missing words: “they will able to read” needs “they will be able to read,” while “nobody have time learned” does not form a correct verb pattern. Agreement and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “every person feel comfortable” and the long first body paragraph, which joins several ideas without clear punctuation. Most structures are simple or inaccurately extended, so meaning is sometimes obscured. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas using controlled clauses and full stops.
