IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The future of printed books or newspaper is not much brighter due to public will easily able to read whatever they want by the help of internet and no need of paying money for it. I strongly support the statement followed by my opinion.
To begin with, no printed newspaper or book in future due to several reasons.
Advancement in technology. To expalin it in more details, it will be very easy and convinenet for peopel to read the stuffs they want and to get knowledge about anything they like to know by the help of internet without paying extra money expecte for the internet connection. To be specific, if any individual want to read about the news what happend today they dont have to wait for it to be published in newspaper and to be deliverd next day in shopes because he or she can easily find it online by the single click.
Similarly, there will be no physical bruden. Elaborating on it, the news or book he or she want to read they can easliy find in internet and they dont hav e to go in shope or stationery to buy it. For insatance, if some want to read about the book of albatross named love of life he or she dont have to go for shope to buy it if they are not much eggier of having physical book because him or her can find it in online without spending money.
To conculed, no need of printed nwespaper or books in future due to advancement of technology and people will also not have much physical burden as compare to going nad buying it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you strongly support the prediction that printed books and newspapers will no longer be bought, and you give two relevant reasons—online access and avoiding the effort of visiting a shop. The examples about finding daily news immediately and reading a book online help illustrate these points. However, the response addresses the claim only partially because it does not examine the important idea that online material will be available without payment, or consider whether printed publications might continue to be purchased by some people. The reasons are also asserted more than developed; for example, the point about “physical burden” could explain who benefits and why. A fuller discussion of the task’s key claims and more explanation of each reason would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates the position. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Similarly,” and “To conclude” help signal this organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. The fragment “Advancement in technology” interrupts the first body paragraph, and the second paragraph repeats the idea of finding material online without clearly extending the argument. Some linking expressions, including “Elaborating on it” and “To be specific,” feel mechanical, while references such as “they” and “he or she” are not always easy to follow. Develop each paragraph around one clearly stated point, then connect the explanation and example directly to it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “advancement in technology,” “physical burden,” and “published,” and you attempt to vary expressions for accessing material online. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “convinenet,” “stuffs,” “physical bruden,” and “eggier”; phrases such as “by the help of internet” and “find it in online” are also unnatural. Repetition of “shop” and “read” further limits flexibility. Aim to learn accurate topic collocations and check spelling carefully, while choosing precise terms such as “digital publications,” “access,” and “purchase” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if any individual want to read,” but control is inconsistent. Frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction can make the reader pause. For instance, “public will easily able” is missing a verb, “if any individual want” has incorrect agreement, and “they dont hav e to go in shope” contains problems with the verb phrase and preposition pattern. The opening body sentence, “To begin with, no printed newspaper or book in future due to several reasons,” is also incomplete. Build accuracy first with complete subject–verb sentences, then practise combining them using clauses such as “because” and “although.” Check punctuation and apostrophes as part of proofreading.
