Student answer (Band 5.5)

The diagram illustrates the manufacturing process of instant nooodles.

It is clear that the instant noodles manufacturing process consists of eight different stages and a number of machines and infrustuctures, from the raw material flour storing to silos to ultimate products.

At the first stage,a vehicle comes with the flour to stored in silos. After that, a machine called mixer which mixed the flour with water and oil to make a dough.Subsequently, a roller role the mixer to make the dough as a sheets.Next, a machines cut the dough in strips to give a shapes of noodles.

In the following stage, gives the noodles a shape of disk.In the sixth stage, noodles are fried in cooking oil and dried it for packaging.Once the process is complete, pour it to the cups by adding some vegitable and spices to make more healthier and tastier. Finally, the resulting product has labeled and sealed for packaging that we consume.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as having eight stages and cover several key steps, including flour storage, mixing, shaping, cooking and drying, and adding ingredients before sealing. This gives the reader a basic account of the sequence. However, some stages are unclear or inaccurately described: the dough is rolled into sheets, then cut into strips and formed into noodle discs, but the account does not clearly distinguish these transformations. The overview also refers generally to machines and infrastructure rather than summarising the main progression from flour to finished cups. The final stages are compressed, and the conveyor and labelling details are omitted. A clearer overview and more precise reporting of each stage would make the process more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows the manufacturing sequence and uses time markers such as “At the first stage,” “After that,” “Subsequently,” and “Finally,” so the reader can generally follow the process. However, the writing is presented as one continuous paragraph, and progression becomes less clear in places. For example, “In the following stage, gives the noodles a shape of disk” has no clear subject, while “Once the process is complete, pour it to the cups” leaves the reference of “it” uncertain. Some transitions also connect steps without explaining the change between them. Organising the account into an overview and a sequenced description, with clearer references to the noodles, dough, and cups, would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “manufacturing process,” “silos,” “mixer,” “dough,” “strips,” and “sealed,” which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less precise. For instance, “a roller role the mixer” does not clearly describe the rollers shaping the dough, and “a shape of disk” is an awkward way to describe the noodle discs. There are also spelling errors such as “nooodles,” “infrustuctures,” and “vegitable.” Aim for accurate process terms and natural collocations, and check spelling carefully. Avoid adding unsupported claims such as the noodles being “more healthier and tastier.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect stages using both time expressions and longer sentence patterns, but control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent. Several clauses are incomplete or have unclear subjects, as in “After that, a machine called mixer which mixed the flour with water and oil to make a dough” and “In the following stage, gives the noodles a shape of disk.” Other errors include “a machines cut” and “the resulting product has labeled and sealed,” where agreement and passive verb forms are not controlled. Punctuation spacing is also inconsistent. Practise writing complete passive sentences for each stage, such as “The flour is mixed with water and oil,” and check articles, plurals, and verb forms.
