Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main stages of the noodle manufacturing process, the description is quite brief and lacks the necessary detail to fully develop the response. You have attempted to report the main features, but the overview is somewhat generic. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive summary of the process, including more specific details about the equipment and the sequence of events. Because the response is under-length, it is restricted to a lower band as it does not fully address the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into a brief introduction and a single, long body paragraph. The progression of ideas is generally logical, following the chronological order of the process. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical (e.g., 'To begin with', 'the first step is', 'the further step is', 'the following step is'). The paragraphing is insufficient; a report of this nature should be clearly divided into an introduction, an overview, and distinct body paragraphs for the different stages of the process. Improving the variety of linking words and using better paragraph structure would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'materials', 'making', and 'added'. There is little evidence of less common or more precise vocabulary related to industrial processes (e.g., 'ingredients', 'incorporate', 'extrusion', 'dehydration'). Some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'noodles disc of materials cooking with oil'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more specific terminology related to manufacturing and improve your collocation skills to make your writing sound more natural and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'the raw materials of flour transported by truck' lacks a verb, and 'these mixed materials passing through by roller' is grammatically incomplete. There are also issues with article usage and punctuation, such as the unnecessary comma in the first sentence. To improve, focus on ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a finite verb, and work on the accurate use of passive voice, which is essential for describing processes.
