Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response provides a general overview of the process, but it lacks the precision required for a high band score. While you identified the main steps, the description of the process is somewhat superficial. For example, you mention 'mixture machine' and 'dough strips machine' without clearly explaining the transformation of the raw materials into the final product. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated. To improve, ensure you highlight the key stages more clearly and provide a more logical flow of the manufacturing cycle, ensuring all parts of the diagram are accurately represented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Whereas, starting from' and 'then after this stage' feel disjointed and do not always create a smooth logical progression. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'the noodles discs which were made that are cooked', which is grammatically awkward and hinders the flow of information. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the reader follow the process more easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. You rely on basic terms like 'mixture machine' and 'well organized shap' (spelling error: shape). There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'conduct the flour' instead of 'transport the flour' and 'allot' instead of 'cut' or 'divided'. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more specific technical vocabulary related to industrial processes and ensure correct spelling and collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('The diagram illustrate'), incorrect verb forms ('is mixed in the flour'), and awkward sentence structures ('the noodles discs which were made that are cooked'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that prepositions are used correctly. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for moving to a higher band.
