Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all stages of the manufacturing process, from the initial storage of flour to the final sealing and labelling. The overview is present, though it is slightly underdeveloped as it does not fully highlight the key stages or the nature of the process. The report is accurate and follows the sequence of the diagram logically. To reach a higher band, ensure the overview provides a more comprehensive summary of the main trends or stages rather than just stating the number of stages. The information is clearly presented and relevant to the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'After that', 'Following that', 'Subsequently', and 'Lastly' are used to guide the reader through the process. However, some of these transitions are used repetitively, which makes the flow feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though the connection between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking phrases to create a more natural progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to describe the manufacturing process clearly. Terms like 'manufacturing unit', 'molded', and 'desired shape' are used correctly. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic verbs. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'there discs of noodles' (should be 'these discs') and 'making noodles shape' (should be 'noodle shapes'). Expanding the range of vocabulary to include more precise technical terms would enhance the quality of the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the entire process of four stages that are included in production' (which is a sentence fragment) and 'the dried noodle are filled' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally accurate, but the sentence structure could be more varied to demonstrate better control. The errors present do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score in this criterion.
