The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The processes involved in the manufacturing of instant noodles are illustrated in the diagram. Overall, there are eight stages involved requiring and each of them requires a lot of machinery.

To start off, the raw material component needed in noodles production, flour, is transported to storage silos were it is preserved for a certain period of time. After that, the flour is taken to the mixer where water and oil is added to it to form the dough. The dough is then spread into dough sheets by the rollers before being cut into thin, long lines called dough strips.

In continuation of the processes above, the dough strips get converted into noodle discs as the fifth step. The noodle discs are poured into cooking oil before they are dried. At this point, the crisp, dry noodle discs are put into cups where the greens and spices are included in the process before the cups are properly packaged.
