Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main stages of the process, the description is incomplete and lacks detail. For instance, the fourth stage is mentioned but left unfinished, and the overall summary is quite brief. To improve, ensure you describe each step of the process clearly and provide a more comprehensive overview. The under-length nature of the response means that the information is not fully developed, preventing a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Finally' to sequence the stages. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, and the paragraphing is not effectively utilized to separate the introduction from the body. The abrupt ending of the fourth stage disrupts the flow of information. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each step is clearly connected to the next, maintaining a logical flow throughout the description of the manufacturing process.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several errors in word choice and form, such as 'instance noodles' instead of 'instant noodles' and 'ready produced'. You rely on basic terms like 'passed', 'made', and 'put on', which do not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise technical vocabulary related to manufacturing processes, such as 'conveyed', 'processed', 'transformed', or 'automated'. Expanding your range of verbs and nouns will help you describe the diagram more accurately and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('process... have eight step') and incorrect article usage ('the how instant noodles'). Sentence structures are simple, and the attempt at a complex structure in the fourth stage is incomplete, leading to a loss of meaning. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency. Increasing the use of passive voice, which is appropriate for process descriptions, would also help improve your grammatical range.
