Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main stages of the process, the description is quite brief and lacks the necessary detail to fully develop the report. You have attempted to summarize the process, but the under-length nature of the response means that the information is not fully extended or supported. To improve, you should aim to describe the stages with more precision, perhaps by adding more detail about the transformation of the ingredients or the specific machinery involved, ensuring you meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into three short paragraphs, which is a logical structure for a process description. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'Regarding the first step', 'Next', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through the stages. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, and the lack of length makes the overall flow feel abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are connected more smoothly to create a more cohesive narrative throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'mixed', 'passed', and 'put'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and form, such as 'oodles' (likely a typo for noodles) and 'veges' (which is informal). To improve, try to incorporate more precise technical vocabulary related to manufacturing processes, such as 'conveyed', 'processed', 'integrated', or 'automated'. Avoid informal abbreviations like 'veges' and ensure that your spelling is accurate throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly regarding verb forms and sentence structure. Examples include 'how a noodles manufactured' (missing verb/article), 'dough sheet is produces' (incorrect verb form), and 'oodles was take' (subject-verb agreement and passive voice errors). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and the errors occasionally make the meaning slightly difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering the passive voice, which is essential for process descriptions, and ensure consistent subject-verb agreement. Practicing complex sentence structures will also help improve your range.
