Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all stages of the manufacturing process, from the storage of flour to the final labeling. The overview is clear and identifies the main trend of an eight-stage process. However, the description of the process is somewhat mechanical and lacks a more sophisticated synthesis of the information. While the key features are reported, the report could be improved by grouping the stages more effectively to highlight the transition from raw materials to the final product. The information is accurate based on the diagram, and the response successfully addresses the prompt requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, following the chronological order of the manufacturing process. Cohesive devices such as 'First', 'Then', 'Next', and 'Finally' are used to guide the reader through the stages. However, some of the transitions are slightly repetitive, and the paragraphing could be more balanced. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel a bit disjointed due to the reliance on simple linking words. Overall, the information is presented in a coherent manner.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with relevant technical terms such as 'storage silos', 'mixer', 'dough sheets', and 'manufacturing labels'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and form, such as 'flour being collect' (should be 'collected') and 'strips process to turned' (should be 'to turn'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic verbs like 'added' and 'put'. To reach a higher band, the student should aim for more precise verbs and collocations related to industrial processes, such as 'conveyed', 'compressed', or 'packaged'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and verb forms, such as 'instant noodles is manufactured' (should be 'are'), 'flour go through' (should be 'goes'), and 'water and oil were added... to produced' (should be 'to produce'). Additionally, there are missing articles and prepositional errors throughout the text. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the writing.
