Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main stages of the manufacturing process, from the delivery of flour to the final packaging. However, the overview is weak; it describes the process in a conversational tone rather than providing a clear summary of the key stages. Some details, such as the mention of 'shopkeepers' and 'advertisement', are not present in the diagram and represent an attempt to add external information, which is unnecessary. To improve, focus strictly on the visual data provided and ensure the overview highlights the cyclical or linear nature of the process clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized chronologically, which helps the reader follow the process. However, the paragraphing is insufficient; the entire response is written as one block of text, which hinders readability. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Following this', 'In the next step', and 'Finally', they are sometimes used mechanically. The transition between sentences is occasionally abrupt, and the lack of paragraph breaks makes the text feel dense. Using clear paragraph breaks to separate the preparation, processing, and packaging stages would significantly improve the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'floor' instead of 'flour' and 'involve' instead of 'involved'. The range is somewhat limited, relying on basic verbs like 'make', 'sent', and 'give'. To reach a higher band, you should use more specific technical vocabulary related to industrial processes, such as 'processed', 'extruded', 'dehydrated', or 'packaged'. Additionally, ensure you distinguish between nouns and verbs correctly to avoid confusion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('it were send', 'machine are used', 'mixture of floor is than converted') and incorrect word forms ('forth' instead of 'fourth'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or compound, with limited use of complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and run-on sentences. Focusing on basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses, will help improve the accuracy of your writing.
