Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While the response attempts to describe the stages of the noodle manufacturing process, the summary is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary detail to fully explain the sequence. Key features, such as the specific temperatures or the duration of stages, are omitted. The overview is very brief and does not adequately highlight the main trends or the cyclical nature of the process. To improve, you must expand on each stage of the process and ensure the response meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a full demonstration of your ability to report on visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into very short, choppy paragraphs, which hinders the flow of information. While there is a basic attempt at logical sequencing using transition words like 'To begin with', 'After that', and 'Following this', the lack of sentence variety and the repetitive use of these connectors make the text feel mechanical. The paragraphing is insufficient, and the overall progression of ideas is limited by the brevity of the response. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and grouping related steps into more cohesive, well-developed paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic verbs like 'go', 'add', and 'pass'. There are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'storage flour' instead of 'flour storage' and 'factary' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe a technical process effectively. To improve, you should incorporate more precise, process-oriented vocabulary such as 'conveyed', 'incorporated', 'processed', 'automated', and 'packaged'. Expanding your range of nouns and verbs related to manufacturing will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in factary', 'in cups'), incorrect verb forms ('noodles passthrough', 'is storage'), and awkward sentence structures. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, with most sentences being simple or poorly constructed. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practice combining simple sentences into complex ones using relative clauses or passive voice, which is particularly appropriate for describing manufacturing processes.
