Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main stages of the process, but it lacks a clear overview of the manufacturing cycle. While you mention there are 8 steps, you do not describe the nature of the process (e.g., it is a linear, industrial process). Some details are slightly inaccurate or vague, such as 'noodles disc' and 'vegetables and spices in one sachet', which could be described more precisely based on the diagram. To improve, ensure you highlight the transition from raw materials to the final packaged product more explicitly and include a more comprehensive summary of the key stages.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the process. You use some cohesive devices like 'At first', 'Later', and 'Afterwards' to sequence the steps. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some sentences are slightly disjointed. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the dough preparation and the final packaging could be smoother. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. Phrases like 'make it look like noodles' and 'get the final product' are informal and imprecise. You rely on basic verbs such as 'collected', 'taken', and 'put'. To improve, incorporate more specific technical vocabulary related to manufacturing processes, such as 'extrusion', 'conveyor belt', or 'automated'. Using more precise terminology will help demonstrate a wider range of lexical resources appropriate for an Academic Task 1 response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. For example, 'there are total of 8 steps' (missing article), 'This steps include' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'the they add' (repetition). Additionally, there are issues with pluralization and article usage throughout the text. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article consistency.
