Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 86 words. This significantly impacts the task achievement as the description is overly simplistic and lacks the necessary detail to be considered a full report. While the student identifies the main stages of the noodle manufacturing process, the lack of length prevents any meaningful comparison or detailed reporting of the stages. To improve, the student must expand on the process by describing the equipment used, the physical changes occurring at each stage, and grouping the information into logical paragraphs rather than a single, run-on sentence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response is written as a single, long, run-on sentence, which makes it difficult to follow. There is no paragraphing, and the reliance on the word 'then' to connect every single step creates a repetitive and mechanical flow. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and limited way. To improve, the student should use a variety of linking words (e.g., 'subsequently', 'following this', 'once the process is complete') and organize the information into clear paragraphs, such as an introduction, an overview of the process, and two body paragraphs detailing the specific stages.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic verbs like 'transported', 'transferred', and 'formed' throughout the text. There is little attempt to use more precise or academic vocabulary related to industrial processes. For example, instead of 'transferred to the rollers', a more precise term would be 'fed into the rollers'. The range is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for a higher band score. Expanding the vocabulary to include process-specific terminology would significantly improve the quality of the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is characterized by a lack of sentence variety. The entire response consists of a single, poorly structured sentence that relies heavily on the word 'then'. There is a lack of complex structures, and the punctuation is non-existent, which makes the text difficult to read. While the basic meaning is conveyed, the grammatical control is weak. To improve, the student needs to use a mix of simple and complex sentences, improve punctuation, and avoid the repetitive 'then' structure by using subordinate clauses or participle phrases.
